A double vinyl EP here from those lovely guys at Plastic Fantastic. The ‘Trip Mix’ of Further South is a chugging, trippy progger, full of spooky otherwordly noises. Strong tribal feel to the track too. Interesting, but pretty weird!
Head over to the Pig and Dan mix - a loose, spaced out, funky groove with tripped out FX panning across the speakers suggesting an almost psy trance vibe. Intricate drum loops and percussion heighten the experience further. Some nice arrangements and sound give the track a more urgent dancefloor feel at points, interspersed with various sonic bits and bobs. Big pads come in later to bring a slightly trancey vibe in, building in crescendo until all of a sudden half the track drops out and we’re back to that infectious simple groove. The best out of these 4 tracks.
The 'Deep Mix' of is perfectly adequate, but pretty underwhelming.
Magma is a slow burning, chilled out progressive groove, that builds very gradually. Nice late night listening, but too deep to make we want to get up and dance. File under v. deep. |
