recording problem

I've got an rca cable (connected to 'booth' on the mixer) connected to a 1/8" cable which goes into the Line In on my computer. So I open up Sound Forge, click record, and then... silence. I tried Audacity and didn't get a signal as well. I'm pretty sure i'm doing everything right. I've got the Line In volume maxed and the Line In checked in the 'recording' volume section.
I asked on another forum before about this and the person I talked to said this was the problem. I'm not too sure about this though because I tried recording on my other computer, doing exactly the same steps, with the same results. The other computer has a Sound Blaster Live sound card and not just the built in RealTek card.
I'm starting to think that the cables are the problem. The ends of them are different than my other rca and 1/8" cables. I honestly don't know though...
Any help would be appreciated. I've been wanting to record mixes forever but I just can't find a solution to this problem!!! :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:
Thanks,

Picture of the cables: here
Forgive me if these cables are fine. I just think the end on the 1/8" seems wrong.. :nervous: |

first check if youve got a booth volume control on your mixer, make sure its turned up.
to check your cables- plug the cables into your mic jack (and change the recording options in windows) and see if you get a result there. also try and swap all your RCA cables around and see if you have any luck.
and link didnt work for me. :) |

No luck :sadgreen:
I'm going to try on my brothers computer tomorrow and if it doesn't work then it must be the cables... or i'm just stupid. :wtf::whip:
[Edit] Link works now, I fixed it. |
