LOL! I kind of laughed at his comment, "So please, stop asking me questions about the relation between drugs and electronic music..." I wonder what kind of question he'd receive, I mean, how exactly would it be worded?
Sometimes I wonder if a DJ actually measures how a person on E would respond to certain points in their music...that's where I thought those questions to Tiesto might be coming from... |

| There were load of questions and accusations back in the day on Tiesto.com forums about Tiesto and drugs...what does he think about it, the accusations that he does cocaine all the time, and a bunch of other stuff...I guess he just got sick of it :) |

You can thank the same media that destroyed the rave industry years ago for this... they're the ones that created the fear for drugs in the rave scene which eventually became its downfall. Are they really surprised that electronic music now carries a drug-related reputation?? They're the ones that gave it to us!!
But I guess whatever gets people's emotions going is the right story... :rolleyes: |

| No I would have to disagree...clearly they helped with that image...but the fact that half the people are saying that EDM and E go together doesn't help either...with that said however, just like Esso said before - drugs are everywhere |

| You think the media helped the rave scene back in '99-'01?? I stand firmly that it destroyed it... but conveniently enough, the club industry was waiting with open arms. People feared the drugs at these "underground parties" because they were unknown. 20/20 and PrimeTime hosted countless stories about the rampant drug use and explicit sexuality of underagers in dirty warehouses and parking garages... people dying... blah blah blah. People paniced and the authorities stepped in to stop them. However, the downfall of the rave scene became the evolution of the club scene...... which as a whole, was the best thing that could have happened for the industry... yet also created a pathway for events like this Disneyland crap. |

| No you got it the other way around...I meant that the media HELPED CREATE that stigma of EDM...not actually helped the scene...sorry for the misunderstanding there :) |

The whole drug comment seemed oddly out of place in tiesto's journal.
he went from talking about the crowd, to not being able to buy booze, to knowing that no one was on drugs, which doesn't follow.
I agree that you don't need to be on drugs to enjoy edm, and that its a shame that so often they are attached to one another, but Tiesto's comments strike me as really empty. |

I kinda like that statement. A lot of my friends who like Tiesto, Armin and various other trance DJs rarely or never go to parties because they hate seeing people on drugs.
By saying what he did, he essentially opens "party doors" for many people who are afraid of all the drugs in the scene. |
