Question for those who have had an Ulcer...

I recently began feeling this pain. Just below my breast bone and my navel (stomach) and it's really bad I figure it's an Ulcer because it just burns horribly and it won't go away. If anyone has had this, what is good to take that works well? Is it a must to see a Doctor for it?

:nervous:

wat you are having is Epigastric pain. Go see your Doctor as possible or if symptoms worsen ER ASAP.

try some prilosec otc and see if it helps the burning

if you start feeling more tired or dizzy could mean hte ulcer is bleeding, then go to er.... but otherwise try prilosec

also i dont know if you are a drinker or not, but if you are, stop for a little while and see if it helps

All I have to say is thank god for the medical TA's, without harold, ludeboy, cynth, or whitesmoke, most of us would be screwed, you guys rock for looking out :D
FallingMoon
thank you Harold and Cyn

I'm not a drinker though but I have really poor eating habits and I read it was a factor.

thank goodness for the TA medics!! :D

your best bet is to listen to "nurse Ratchett" (aka cyn) lol :haha:

i think ulcers may be stress related so take it easy ;)

You can take prevacid or prilosec but prescription and not the otc one if you really have something like that. Ulcer can be serious if you do not treat it and it requires changes in diet and all. The pain you describe can be an ulcer but it can also be gastritis. I guess they are similar but different on where it happens and it seems that ulcer can be more serious since it can cause bleeding or a hole through the wall of your stomach. I never had an ulcer but I heard the pain is quite strong. I would see a dcotor if its happening all the time.

These links tell you in more detail about it.

Does the pain go up your throut? .. it could b heartburn as well.. but I cant relate. I know for a fact that poor eating habits do give this effects.. so tip#1.. Start having a healthy lifestyle.. that means healthy meals, excersice, and drink water.. if it persists do whats necessary, Doctor!

no not heartburn at all. It only stays in the stomach. Upper intestine. I'm sure it's what Harold said because I read it and I have the symptoms. I work out but I skip meals and at times only have 1 meal a day which is horrible. I am going to the Doctor though so I hope things will get better.

thank you guys!! :D
