so i was wondering, what is the best cd deck in the world, the pioneer or the denon?

sony

i have a pair of the denon dns5000s, they're excellent, but i'm suspecting the cdj could be better since they're so much more expensive? if these two are actually compared, and they come out the same in terms of quality, then the denon is an absolute steal.

Its a stupid question
hence
I gave a stupid answer
webbie
Im extending my setup with a CDJ-1000 the next month or so.
I currently own a Denon DN-S5000 and while its a great piece of equipment with the mirror mix, mp3 function, alpha channel and all of that i
find it very inprecise for my 2-3 minute transitions. I dont want to have to pitch it back and forwards every 30 seconds.

The second thing that bothers me about the Denon is the spinning platter. It can be turned off but its still pressure sensitive (a feature that cannot be disabled) which really messes things up.
So im getting a CDJ for smooth mixing and keeping the Denon for playtime.

If you want opinions, then i would say the denon 2600f is one of the best. Or the CDJ 800, or perhaps the denon 1000 which is also very competent.

'best' is a subjective term, and one persons opinion and experience varies differently from another.

denon make pro standard cd players, and so do pioneer, and you will ifnd both in the majority of clubs and bars around the world.
Bottom line: try both and decide for yourself rather than clogging the boards with useless vs threads when you are clearly going to get a load of varying opinions.
Both are good and you generally get what you pay for, although as with everything, its how you use the tools at your disposal.

In my opinion, Denon has more features (and not just ones, really useful features) but I just prefer the feel of a CDJ1000 so I'd always rather play on them. The thing that really puts me off the S5000 is, despite a moving platter being a really good idea it hasn't got anywhere near enough torque, making it impossible to use properly. I actually find the CDJ1000 feels a lot more realistic for scratching (once you've got used to the fact that the platter doesn't keep moving, you can just make the same movements as you would for vinyl and it sounds the same)

I suppose this is partly because I've got a pair of CDJ100s myself anyway and anyone getting a pair of the Denon ones as their first CD decks might take to them really well. But the Pioneer's also feel more robust to me, which I gather is why clubs tend to favour them.

I agree with Stu Cox, the main problem with the Denon is that its a low torque belt driven platter which takes some time to get back into rotating
if you stop it. Very annoying.

I also found it much easier to scratch when i turned off the movement, because the cue point slips when the platter rotation is enabled.but if you disable it scratching goes fine, but the platter is still pressure
sensitive which really sucks. When you stop scratching the tune slooowly starts again, emulating a vinyl powering up.

i voted for the pioneer. i have the cdj-1000 mk2 at home and i love the thing!
