Usually it's the RIAA/MPAA that are uploading fake/corrupt files onto various p2p networks.
As for fake files on BitTorrent, I guess it depends on the quality of the tracker you use. There are a lot of forums for posting torrents, and people will usually comment on the integrity of the download. If it's found to be fake, it will get deleted so there won't be many people sharing it.
I've seen some 3rd party programs for the fasttrack network that sample the start of the file/mp3 using an algorithm to determine if it's is just random (garbage) noise. BitTorrent downloads chunks out of sequence, so it's somewhat harder to do this kind of integrity checking -- although you have the option to download in sequence, but that will probably be slower depending on the availability of the chunks. |

torrentspy lets you make comments and report the download if it's fake.
what sucks is that isohunt.com doesn't since it gets its results from a bunch of other sites, that's where the stuff is sometimes fake. too bad it's the best site for torrents. |

its an amazing program for trance.
check out www.neo-modus.com for the official version. its simple to use, pm me if u need a list of hubs for it or any info on using it, like forewarding ports and whatnot. |

Soulseek is amazing. It's how I found Tim Deluxe - Reflections
You just gotta know how to wheel and deal with people. In the EDM scene, its so easy to make friends on there and share music with ease.
Fack, I even partied at Guv with this guy I traded music with, and he's ing wicked to party with.

That's actually quite awesome! Much better than "I just met this guy through a friend" lol.
I don't support file sharing in any way shape or form. I don't support DC with it's great design and vast collection of anything you can think of to find on it's endless hubs. I especially don't recommend checking it out because it's a freeware program either, so no annoying spyware or popups or any of that stuff.
