Hiya,
"long time" ago since I posted my last track here. I am currently working on my first album, that's why. It will feature some dark and trippy goa in the vein of my track "Chaosphere" and will hopefully be released via Xenocreator's label. More details will follow sooner or later :P
Anyway, today I felt like making a slow, dreamy trance tune (no, this is NOT goa or psy, fellas).
This one is called "Reality Blind" and is meant to be dreamy and a bit trippy, with a deep atmosphere, piano melody and stuff like that. It is not yet finished, I am still unsure about the structure, its quite long and I need to know if this can keep interest over full length. I also need to add some better fills, some FX and stuff.
Second thing I need your help about is mastering. I didnt do that much mastering on this one, but I feel quite content with the result. I am unsure about boosting the upper-mid frequencies because I fear it could take away that dreamy deep feeling.
Some infos on the tune:
Length: 11:05
Filesize: 15.5MB
Bitrate: 192kbps

I am looking forward on your comments :)
and of course: Enjoy! :) |

I'm a big fan of this "outdated" and "forgotten" genre, myself.:)
I love your percs. But the reverb on the piano seems too thick to me.
Nice atmosphere...it is rather dreamy. I know what you mean about the mid-highs, but I dont think that boosting them a tad would be wrong. That piano is the only thing that really needs a boost in that range IMO. I think, though, changing the reverb would help it. Needs more sparkle to it and less fur. hehehe.;)
Not really overly melodic for a dream / piano trance piece either. I was hoping you'd have a good hook! Instead it almost seemed like proggy dream trance! Does that exist!? hmmm...maybe you're onto something!
Anyhow...sounds good really. I shouldn't really nit-pick just because I can't come up with good criticism for ya...its really very good.
Main thing = just not enough good melody / hook

First before I forget, I hear distortions when the snareroll is played.
I'm really glad you made a nice structure for this track, I wouldn't call it a dream trance, but progressive trance.
Sounds really sophisticated and well produced technically.
The track is not the best track I've ever heard, but it is the best track I've heard from you, possibly because I lean more towards Progressive trance than psy trance.
I'm enjoying the production, nice pianos, nice atmosphere, and like always, great percussion set.

Thanks a lot for your comments Digital Aura and PDM! That suggestion with the reverb really helps, good idea. And yes, i used a slight distortion on my snare, but I wanted to work on the fills anyway. |

Hi Cybernetica, just listening now,
The one thing about all your stuff is that they are really well produced - love how your tracks have depth and variety, and this one is no different.
Its very easy on the ear, but IMO it doesnt really go anywhere. I dont know if that is what you wanted to achieve, i found myself getting a little bored and skipping further into the track to see if anything different happened.
But I cant fault the production at all - and I like the percussion, it its perfectly with the track.
Overall a really good job, just not something that gets me going.

Ps - good luck with the album!! |

nice intro and effects
I'd drop the snareroll and find a sfx or something and drop the volume a bit of the piano. The snare is okay later in the track but not for the roll (to me)
4.23 : great synth !
Maybe it's wise to cut a few minutes but overall a very decent production ! |

Always good to try and move outside of one's boundaries. I look forward to this.
You probably already know about the clipping. That can be fixed later, though.
Your effects are still kind of psy-ish, so I'm getting this really weird duality between the niceness of dream trance, and the meanness of psy. It's very trippy, but it works, though.
This is a good track. It's got a good chill groove that I can get lost in. Good job. |

Hey Cybernetica, good to see you trying out some other genres.
I think the melody needs some more variation in it. It doesnt need to me major, but some simple chord changes to that piano riff might work well.
Theres a nice change at 4.20 with some good elements brought in, although I'm noticing some clipping at that point.
The snare rolls could do with some work. They dont sound rolling enough. I'm not sure how to improve them though, I'm not very good at snare rolls either. Maybe gated reverb or vary the velocity and timing of the snares, so 2 then 4, 8, 16, 32 notes ?
It has a nice feel to it although it could do with some more layers as it feels a tad sparse at times. I hope you keep working on this one. |

Great quality this track. Very nice sounds and good kick. Nice emotional melodies, great. Some original percussion. I think the bass is a bit simple, and so is the snare, well you know about the drumrolls now. I think this song would be better without them. Well, overall a nice progressive trancer. |

Thanks a lot for the comments to you all :)
So I'm gonna change the snare rolls - always one of my weak points.
And at the moment I am planning some more distinct piano themes like chrous/bridge etc.
Thanks a lot for you valuable help guys :) |
