Come to switzerland, theyre clean, lol. Seriously, its legal here like in many european states and to be a prostitute here they have to get tested every 2 weeks. Obviously some dont but those are the crack whores near the dumpsters and dont charge the same price... annnyways.
Prostitution should completely be legalized. These are 2 adult people deciding to exchange money for sex. Its not like its juvenile prostitution where you offer a little girl some cash and your abusing her. If an adult women feels she dosent mind having sex with strangers if she can do other things with the money she earns, then where does our governement feel it has the right to stop her? |

Evidemment beaucoup moins dans un environnement ou la prostitution est legale et la necessiter et le pouvoir des pimps est beaucoup moindre |

I don't know...I don't have the mind of a prostitute (except that of a postwhore :p) but I'm not sure if even a majority of prostitutes in a legal situation would be doing it out of their own sheer will...
...if it's not pimps, it's other facets of life; pressure to provide for their children or whatever other financial need and the easy way out is to offer your body...so they really don't WANT to do it; they're FORCED to do it. This may not be all the time, of course, but if you legalize prostitution it gives a woman the opportunity to turn to this type of business as a valid alternative.

Well you could apply this to many situations, you think the people picking up dog in parks etc etc do it because theyve been dreaming of doing that all their lives? Look these women realize they need money and they choose a profession where the returns are high thats it. Its like when you get paid more because you have more responsability, more risk, etc |

Come on, you can't compare picking up dog to prostitution; I get your point about the career aspirations but when it comes down to it, I just shudder at the thought of a woman opening her legs to some stranger, partially fearful of what he might do to her body. No matter how regulated it is, this possibility of violence drives me nuts!!!! Can of mace or not, it leaves the woman vulnerable at the deepest, most intimate level.
Obviously it's my conservative upbringing that affects how I feel (I think I'm referring to my emotional response rather than a rational one) but I strongly believe that this activity IS an emotional one and warrants my response. |

Well also if its legal there may be the presence of security guards and the women can go to the police if they are attacked, without being afraid.
Also, I agree that for me too it is linked with an emotional response, BUT it is not up to us to tell other people how they have to feel about it. Thats like saying that you believe strongly in one religion and thus since your values seem right to you then they should be right for others. |

The security you mentioned is all after-the-fact...there is no protection DURING the act.
I'm not saying other people have to feel the same as me, but I fully agree with our government and am using my personal feelings about the matter as justification for my support. The laws represent the MAJORITY view of the country and in a democracy that's what decides what's right for others, not my religion! Obviously most people share my view (if not emotional justification, then some other aspect), whereas in countries where it's legal, they have other priorities. |

Well in all honesty, how does it affect you that a woman or a man is prostituting themselves?
And the security is not all after the act... a security guard near is not after and just knowing that the prostitute may go get help or the police even afterwards will stop most people from abuse. People will obviously abuse more if they feel the girl cant do anything about it. |
