MEXICO CITY - A television actor and dancer killed in a traffic crash was violating laws by driving his motorcycle on a highway and filming without a permit, prosecutors in Mexico's capital said today.
Edgar Ponce, who has appeared on television soap operas and in the male dance troupe For Women Only, died Thursday after a car hit his motorcycle on a highway where trucks, motorcycles and delivery vehicles are required to use side lanes.
Police said the driver was not trying to kill Ponce, and did not appear drunk, but was accused of involuntary homicide — similar to manslaughter — and released on a bail of 300,000 pesos (US$27,000).
Grisly video tapes aired today on local television stations showed the car hitting Ponce, tossing him and his motorcycle into the air.
"There is a law prohibiting these motorcycles from driving in the center lanes of highways," said city Attorney General Bernardo Batiz. "We will have to investigate and see what violations there were."
Fellow actor Poncho Denigris accused the motorist of purposely trying to hit the caravan of motorcycles driven by members of the troupe, which was filming a commercial for their show.
"The car didn't try to brake or anything," Denigris said.
Ponce had appeared in soap operas such as Sonadoras, Salome, and Amigas y Rivales.

| Video's not there anymore, but I believe, as far as it seems, that since the biker wasn't supposed to be there it was just a matter of time till someone either distracted or irate hit him. |

She was this hot mexican actress that passed away the 29th of April, two weeks ago, after a heart attact. Apparently there was this assault attempt. Nothing is clear yet. What can be said is that she got so scared when these two guys were approaching her vehicle that she just suffered the attack. The videos for this also don't show much. She was traveling with her family the day of the incident.
Mariana Levy appeared in many soap operas. I mostly remember her from La pícara soñadora.

I remember about the existence of this soap opera, but I don't remember if I've seen a chapter or not. Anyway, what I found strange was that this page says that another vehicle would be assaulted and that there was a misunderstanding. She did look hot though.
I do understand why you're more interested in her case though. What a strange story. |

Yes, strange story. Some people are sensitive in such cases. Not all react the same way.
I did hear about the guys planning on robbing the automobile behind Mariana's. But that's not certain. Crime in Mexico City is too organized lately. Rarely do you know how these guys operate. It's a serious issue that needs more attention.
