| I'll be going to a community college for two years (Edmonds, for the locals) and then I'll hopefully transfer to the Art Institute of Seattle. |

| I plan to go to college and major in either linguistics, or a particular language. German, perhaps. But who knows, everyone changes their major, right? |

I did a 3 months accelerated course in VB programming, did that for 6 months, moved to the UK, decided I HATE programming, and just jumped into the random job market, video store --> office administrator --> internet cafe --> cellphone shop administrator/deputy manager --> advisor for largest cellphone retailer in the UK :D
in 3 years my salary has gone from £11 000 to £19 400 :happy2: |

Interesting, what do you plan on doing?
Don't worry about being unable to declare a major. I'm almost done with my second year in college and still undecided as well. That kind of commitment deters me a bit, because whatever I do, I want to do it for the rest of my life and put my all into it. I'm thinking of International Journalism and Spanish. I have heard of universities that pay you to teach in different countries every semester. That would be an excellent means of travel. Or, working for the gov't, you can retire early with excellent benefits and then do whatever you desire with the rest of your life while your in your prime :D |

| Graduated, I got a job through someone I know installing computers for a school district during the summer. Fall came ande I wanted to pursue my Cisco studies. Paid for cisco 5, got behind and was never able to catch up. And so I needed a job after the summer was over and ended up selling cell phones for two weeks. They claim they didnt have the loot to properly train me so bleh. into the random job market :D. 30 applications later, I walk into a smoke shop and get hired on the spot to help this dude with whatever random junk for 25 dollars a day, 5 pm - close. That worked for a while, I subsisted, then I got busted with a roach. 2000 dollars in fines and 40 hours community service with one year probation. luckily in january the Tubby's next door switched owners and my boss reccommended me and some other dude he knew to work there all the time so I am getting mad hours. However I don't want to be here forever, so I am going to try and nail my CCNA and A+ in June sometime. My advice to you, get your basics out of the way. English and Math and all that junk. that will give you more time to decide what it is that you really want to do and it will let you build towards something. |
