Dolby surround and Trance for realism

Assuming that most of you listen to Trance to take the trip with your fantasy, wouldn't a dolby digital surround effect enhance it ?

There are many tracks with sounds from nature, like waves hitting the beach, birds chirping, wind swirling. If a club had installed such a system and the vinyls had the required information, it would increase the realism.

Or for e.g., in one of AP's track, there is a helicopter hovering around in the background, it would provide some realism if that sound came from the upper back speaker.

Is such system implemented anywhere yet? What is preventing it?

Ive been to an event that had eight channel diffusion. there are many venues that use surround sound. the first thing that comes to mind is...wouldnt that be awkward when trying to mix? for instance when your trying to monitor, all these sounds comming out of everywhich way. too me...that sounds like it would be a bitch. ive never played live, let alone on a surround system, so i really couldnt know that.

Yeah I agree, that'd probably be a nightmare to try and mix live.. imagine if the monitors went out or something!

BT comes to mind as a producer who has stated that he is going to produce in 4.1 from now on!

Wouldn't there be a way to fix that? They're doing so much stuff these days, you never know....

mixed lives are 5.1... but the music tecnically isnt.

If I could produce using 4 or 5 channels, I'd have so much fun :p

Not with 12"s, the groove has a left and right side, thats how it works...

Exactly. And as the standard is still 12 inch vinyl for clubs, I don't see anything like this happening soon.

Thread closed. :p
