K i listened to the Over and Out track.... first of all not my type of production but this is what i got out of it...

1 - Your Kick and Low lacks drive very much... try putting a compressor on it or eq'ing it better.... maybe a 75 Hz boost or so

2 - When your highs come in (hats, etc...) there is a annoying buzzed sound.... too much reverb or disortion on it? maybe take that down....

3 - Track def needs better mixing / mastering ... the freq ranges are not balanced ... are you using any type of mastering software?

4 - Loops and melodies are good ... but too monotonous... maybe some variation here and there

Hope that was some help

unfortunatly i lost the flp to tha track but i ussualy do it like this.

i start up fruity and bassicaly i run each channel thru the mixer and eq it i set diffrent sounds to diffrent hz's

the kick and bass always lower on the eq the string i center but on that track i went high with strings cuz i wanted to put the idea that the strings were beyond the track like in a far part of the room.

i usually run some leads depends on the track at nidrange with a bit on higher frequencys for that energetic feel this one i had a pluck sound so i wanted to use a good amount of reverb and have a crisp but not to crisp pluck feel.

the beat i know had no energy on the kick i ran the breakbeat thru a eq i made the breakbeat in another piece of software/drummachine.

the hats i added to much reverb delay and they were to crisp higher frequency ranges.

when it comes to mastering im a jackass i cant master for crap i bought t-racks and cant do anything with it.

all in all i got over 3 thousand bucks in software.

i kinda just make the tracksand never worry about the mastering too much as long as the tracks not killing my subs im happy.

i use a bassic audio card that came with my pc and a set of 50 dollar pc speekers.

this friday im purchasing a alesis micron i have a m-audio oxygen 8.

im also getting some studio headphones audiotechnica and the next week after im getting a m-audio sound card.

i didnt wanna do moniters cuz i kinda got ty neighbors and no sound proofing so i heard that airbase uses headphones and his tracks sound good so i figured it whouldnt be to bad.

my pc's a

p4 2.8ghz 180gb hard drive 512mb ram and i have flstudio 50.xxl

and so many damn vst's i cant count em.I was buying vst's for a long time so i built up a collection.

my melodeys are good thats good to hear lol.

i taught myself to play piano been playing sice 2000 when i got my first keyboard a yamaha djx.

i played classical for awhile and also dabbled into some techno.

its tough trying to make music where i live on a lake with old people all around me so i get the occasional bitching here and there.

i wanna work with more people but i dont know anyone interested in production local it would be great to have some close opinions before a track is finished.
anyway thanx

what would you classify my style as lol.

I have to agree with digitallifeform, the percussion really needs some work, to me it just sounds like a bad loop thrown in with very little Mixing and EQ if any.

I didn't mind the repeated melodys, as the main little riff had a certain charm to it.. and the strings/pads sat nicely at the back as you said you were going for...

I think the main riff could also sit a bit better in the track, or needs to be a better sound to begin with.. i cant quite put my finger on it.. but I like the melody.. I just feel the sound feels a bit cheap.

but I liked it.. keep polishing and you will have a nice cruisy track..

i lost the flp file for fruity awhile back cuz my pc crashed so all i have left is that mp3.

alot of my other tracks are like that tho i just like a groove and chillness i cant explain i really dont aim for a genre lol its weird i just get in there and play notes off my midi controller and say jeez that sounds cool and add extra stuff add fx etc.

my cousin says its nothing that could sell tho i dont care i like to listen to em in my car when im on a long trip up the east coast which i do often.

i should get this old break i have up there its so early nineties it will blow your mind.

its like that track take me away by mix factory a funky little break.

it was played on local radio here in boston on a radio show called

electronic music studio college radio by dj zealot.

she moved and doesnt do her show anymore but she took to the track itself.

had a cool female vocal i did with fruitys voice creator which i think i mastered becuasei can get that thing to sound like a real human lol.

anyway try and check out wall of shame its one of my favorite tracks i did.

the vocal is the names of all the girls that hurt me followed up by a fruity female vocal i created stating

you are....a dirty whore (delay) lol.

and the beats preety good and its got some eq fading going on with pan etc.
