Bug with smilies: always puts them at end of typed message
View this Thread in Original format

Whenever typing a post and I choose to go back and add a smilie (by clicking on it in the box to the left) it sticks it at the end of whatever message I have typed. A bit of an annoyance I end up having to copy and paste it to the right place each time...

Has been happening for a while and only on this messageboard..

I hope it is straightforward to fix

This happens whenever you use the vB code buttons too. Would be good if it could be taken care of.

Its common on pretty much most of the forums, i dont think its possible for the curser location to be used to place a item within a text box (the same thing happens in phpbb and xoops (other forum software I have experience of))
Abhay
bothers me a bit too...

I always forget and put the smilies in the wro:eek: ng place
Hanki
Happens on every single forum I use...

I know the latest vBulletin fixes all this. The WYSIWYG editor is pretty sweet.

But for now, try the BBcode plugin for Firefox.

Hah, I could say the same for MS DOS. It aint broke, but you sure as hell had to upgrade to do more useful things! But then again, us smart people just used Linux! ;)

vBulletin is also a commercial product that requires a license for it's use. There are many feature complete free OS Bulletin Board packages out there such as phpBB.

Del is supposed to be Mistah Open Source damn it!!! ;)

/me retracts Del's nerd status ;p

Oh, and phpBB and vBulletin both support a MySQL backend, and I thought I saw a database converter script floating around a while back. I'll have to hunt for it...

Anyway, I look forward to any improvements to this board. Go TA!
