I've started threads about this guy a few times, but honestly, if you listen to a set or two, you will understand why Chris Liebing thinks he is 'amazing' and that Ben Long of the Space Djz wonders how the hell the world hasn't discovered this dj yet...

The world outside Brazil is starting to take notice for sure.. at 26 Murphy is now getting booked regularly to play in Europe, Germany especially where the hard techno scene is strong. He has a few upcoming releases on various labels and is poised to spread his 'Murphy style' sound to the world.
A lot of djs can scratch, and I admit this guy can overdue it a bit at times, but overall he's frickin awesome!! that's just part of his trademark style.

A few fresh DJ Murphy sets :)

DJ Murphy

when i saw murphy playing yesterday i thought i should retire myself. go back to school, play with my mixer in my room again..... i donīt know how to play. murphy is the future of techno. i donīt know how the world has never discovered a guy like this" ben long

as sao paulo proves to be the main city in south america for underground dance music, definition records welcomes a producer hailing from this city, who is also acclaimed as the most technically skilled current techno dj to emerge from brazil. this guy headlines the main techno raves in sao paulo and everyone who has a chance to listen to his devastating legendary trademark mixes understands why he is one of the most in demand djs in brazil - donīt be surprised to see how he expresses his perfect skills on three or four decks. if youīve never seen a technohead doing the mixing, tricks and scratches in an astonishing level of quality comparable to the likes of dave clarke, cristian varela and space djz, you havenīt heard dj murphy spinning yet. along with his mates ana and david (kneīdeepīs pet duo), he takes up residence on fridays at a lôca, a very good reference club in sao paulo. also had a chance to be the only dj from latin america spinning at the 2001 world electronic music festival, in canada; people loved his mix, which led him to do an extra three-hours presentation on the day after. as murphy continues to affirm his position amongst the heavyweights, we keep affirming that he is a treasure who will certainly be discovered soon by the rest of the world. murphy does display the skills that very few in this planet possess. currently spending some time experimenting with his studio equipment, he has already released some of his tracks - "afinidade", on brazilīs amp mtv second compilation (alongside tracks such as mau mauīs "space funk" and renato cohenīs "pontapé") and "non sense", on an independent brazilian label called brasil com s. both won him support from the brazilian media’s leading music publications, websites and djs alike. murphy, both djing and producing, is a synonym for excellent hard techno peppered with groove and funk. just welcome his productions into your case and let him add a piece of his vibe to the energy that flows through the crowds you pull.

enjoy!

Sorry to double post, but I think this kid deserves a lot more attention. His mixing is off the wall and his tracklisting is amazing. His style actually reminded me a lot of Preach's except murphy seemed to play more spanish tunes.

Thanks so much kate, and I definitely recommend for you guys to download this set. He's definitely up-and-coming.
sweetbeats
november 2003 set

overall i give it a 7 out of 10.

i don't think the track he chose to go with the 7 nation army matched up all that well. 7NA is such a sweet song that something a little darker/mininal would have been better. i really enjoyed the african chants. i just love that kind of stuff. his scratching needs work. and he really needs to stop spinning back the record.

overall i like it and i'm keeping it...
