UK DJ Paul Edge begins his 2005 US Club tour "Unlock The Doors" in Seattle, playing his electro-dance remixes of The Doors' classic tunes, along with some of the other Doors remixes now filtering into the mainstream. Ticket prices are $10 before 11pm, $15 thereafter with $12 advance tickets will be available at all TicketsWest locations as well as Groovetickets.com & Platinum Records.
Friday, June 10th:
Hybrid (DJ Set) with Dig-Dug & Dean Lowden – http://www.hybridsoundsystem.com/
Hybrid are a trio of remixers/producers/DJs based in the Welsh city of Swansea: Mike Truman, Chris Healings, and Lee Mullin. Meeting while going to clubs in the early '90s, the three made their own remixes of recordings, eventually earning assignments from record companies to pursue their hobby professionally. Finally, they were signed to Distinctive Records and embarked on making an ambitious first album, Wide Angle, in Moscow. Hybrid used such talents as singer Julee Cruise and the 90-piece Russian Federal Orchestra. Countless artists lay claim to being influenced & inspired by the legendary Hybrid. International DJ and producer Paul van Dyk has made history by nabbing a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album for his latest release, Reflections. This is the first time the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences is acknowledging this category and has clearly established Paul van Dyk as a leader in this genre. He was also voted “America’s Favorite DJ” for 2004 by BPM Magazine and was the big winner at the 2004 Dancestar Awards, taking home 3 awards: Best International DJ, Best Event and Best Music in a Commercial (Motorola). He also won the Mexican Oscar for his soundtrack in the film Zurdo in March 2004. Few can use the term “icon” like Paul van Dyk. Jerry Bonham is a legend in his own right, having been DJ’ing since the late 70’s.
