so according to http://www.skyaustin.com/ there is a four hour tag team set going on Friday. It has been a couple of weeks since I have been up there to Austin so this will be my return since Adam Freeland. Hopefully my partner in crime will want to go again finally. But we will see. Come on TA's lets show some support

| I was there last night with my fiance. I must say that was the most fun I've had in a long while. Had to stop dancing cause my legs were getting so tired. I think we'll be going to sky on a monthly basis from now on to see D:fuse. |

Here's my late review:
I showed up around 11 pm & was instantly confused by the hip-hop playing in Sky. Jerry Bonham & DFuse were upstairs (at Vue).
I paid my $3 cover. (if you can't get to the ATM, like me, Vue has a $20 minimum charge, so if you pay your cover with a credit card, they will actually give you $17 in cash back. Worked out well!)
Vue was a little underpopulated. Joe & I were talking about the vagaries of Austin crowds & promotion. Sky's website has been lacking for awhile--they didn't post anything about the show.
But people started showing up, & the music got better. It was great to see Ryan. jonmon, say hi to us next time. Groovemoose, show up!
Pluses of upstairs: The dancefloor is off to the side, & deeper, so it looks crowded faster (which gets more people to get on the floor). Also, the layout is better--downstairs, the dancefloor is in the middle of the club, so if you want to go to the bathroom or the back bar, you have to weave your way through the crowd.
& $3 Red Bull & Vodka's all night long was great.
Negatives of upstairs: The sound system is not as good as downstairs.
It got quite warm. It wasn't at the Oakenfold at Eternal discomfort level of "6 people stuffed in a Honda Civic with the windows rolled up & no AC in July", but I thought it was too humid & uncomfortable.
It was a great set, with jerry & DFuse trading off all night. I wish I could ID more of the songs. There was one we thought was Xpander, but was not. It sure sounded like a rip-off of it! |
