Going to the Philipines!

Next week I'll be visiting the nation of my family, the Phillipines!
I dunno what else to say, except I'm pretty excited, and nervous. It's going to take at least 36 hours, on a couple connecting flights, in and out of the states. But it'll all be worth it, seeing my sister I haven't met before, seeing the mausoleum of my grandfather, to accompany the occasional party and beach :p! And who knows, I may even get to see Chicane, I know he goes there often ;)
Anyway, it'll be a heck of a trip, and I'll try to post as often as possible ;) if not then check out my MySpace (in sig) for blogs :D |

| ben! congrats on your upcoming trek over to east asia. first time? man, i feel you on that plane ride. PAINFUL. above all, be careful. i've been hearing about travel warnings to the PI since 1999 due to Abu Sayaf, etc. so avoid ferry rides and other locations known to be frequented by foreigners (basically stay out of manila as much as you can). just stick with your relatives and you'll be fine. :) have fun and eat a lot of balut! |

It's not my first time, but it's been 11 years since my last visit. Manila isn't such a bad place, it's down south where it's most crazy, and I won't be going there. Most likely I'll be around Manila, and Alongapo. Until this day, I haven't tried balut, I probably never will. Theres just too much to eat in the PI to be eating bird eggs! LOL! :stongue:
EDIT: I'll also be heading out to a few beaches, the biggest one being Borucay! :) |

Ben, have an awesome time!!! Spend quality time with the fam, party it up on the beaches, and take pics. If you see Chicane def take plenty of pics!!! ;)

Have a safe trip!
Here are some suggested items for the long flight:
Magic brownies ;)
Space cakes ;) x 2
High quality, sound isolating headphones - to kill the hum of the plane
Ipod or personal audio system
Batteries for ^^^
Gameboy or equivalent
More batteries for ^^^
cheap sunglasses (to block out all light while looking cool)
You'll be in Manila in no time. :)
Oh btw, if these sequence of events happen on your plane to Manila:
1. the flight staff serve the curry chicken
2. you hear the turbine go
3. your seats start rattling and you're sure that's not part of the show
you better start dancing.
(without wearing a seatbelt)
