| I dont mean to rub it in or anything, and i know ireland qualified so i shouldnt even be posting here, but i have to voice this. Ireland qualified over Holland because they wanted it more, because for Euro 96, WC 98, and euro 2000, we went out on the play offs. That hurt, so now was our time for revenge. Unlucky it was u holland, i admit, the tournament would have been better with u in it, but lifes tough, and this was our time for the glory! |

| jeez, heheh it is only sports, no need to get depressed about it, the usa usuaully doesnt make it past 1st or 2nd round in world cup, haha i dont give a actually, i used to play a lot of soccer, but i just like watching the games, doesnt matter if usa got far, although that might be nice or something |

Having 32 teams in a world-cup SUCKS !!
That's way too many teams. More than half of the games in this world-cup are going to be super-boring. Virtually the whole group-stage will be boring, expect for Argentina group...
Damn.. I expect this world-cup to be the most boring yet. |

As for this Holland debate, I think they are good, yeh they lost to Ireland but they are good!! anyway I can't call them e they beat England in their most recent match :( |

World cup?? why is it that countries like senegal, costa rica, china, saoudi arabia, usa and tunesia play there?? i dont think they make the tournament more attractive. Do you want to see Tunesië - Japan??? I cant imagine you want to look at that match :D
Matches like Holland - Brazil are much more interesting, ofcours this is still no excuse that holland did not qualify heh....we just suck, and for Vitryss
your group will end like this:
1. argentina
2/3. nigeria/england
4. sweden
:D:D dont bitch our national football squad, only dutchies are allowed to do so and i hope that overrated england will kick swedens asses :D:D:D j/k

I agree, but again how would it look that all teams are from Europe. Half of the world cup qualifiers already are from Europe. For instance, if Asia doesn't have any country that plays “good” football, that doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be any countries from there, after all this is the World Cup... |

ok my two cents:
1) I do think the modus as of know with all the teams from africa and asia is fair. How do you want to make it else? The strength of these countries grow and today its not that easy to win against senegal...and they bring a difference style to the game as well.
2) Im a bit sad because Holland and england are not in the race. These two teams are not consistent but they bring mostly a lot of energy to the games (also from the fans). I do like matches of these teams even if especially England plays not very "wizardly".
3) The Swiss team of course failed badly, what a surprise. They miss the energy they had 7-10 years back. Now they have more talent than any Swiss team, but they lack intensity and games with the Swiss team are often hard to watch. They had a hard group with slowenia, jugoslavia and russia, but they could and should not failed. They lost games unlucky but hey thats life, you should not complain about that they need to play more focused. and the years without getting to the WC will only lead to bad groups as No4 seed that we are.. |

Ha! Mild signed for Wimbeldon, so what??? He´s no regular in the team anyway.. Schwartz was player of the year TWO years ago, much because his display against england at wembley, but now he´s old and retired from the national team.. Hedman IS better than the oldies England has got between the posts. Our best players are Larsson at Celtic, Ljungberg at Arsenal and Patrik Andersson at Barcelona. But all of this is beside the point. The individuals doesn´t make the team. Look at brazil or whoever..
The english national team hasn´t won anything for so long. Still english folks seem to think that you´re on top of the world. Luckily enough Sven has come in and done really well, but there´s still alot to prove.
You haven´t beaten us in like 40 years :eyes: and won´t do it now either..
As for the group it´s really tough, but I think Sweden has got a big chance of qualifying..

I don't know why, but I haven't seen Poland in the World Cups and competitions like that for a while now, and I am kinda happy for you guys that Poland managed to qualify (it might be due to the fact that one of my best friends is Polak too)...
But anyway, since I was "out" of world cup qualifying matches and all that e, I just found out from you guys that Holland didn't qualify... WTF?!! What a hell happened there?
England didn't go through either... WTF?!!
Now I don't feel so sorry for my country not making this cup either... damn...
And yes, I think the most interesting matches are gonna be the ones Argentina is playing... they're gonna win it all, I have that feeling for some reason... |

You make a good point about the individuals not making the team, one reason England are so great at the moment is because the regular first team comes from 4 clubs (Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool & Leeds). We have won something, remember that tournement in France a few years back, 97 or something, called "Le Tournoi" (my French is non-existent
:p ) 4 teams in it, France, Italy, Brazil and England, and we won :D :D :D beat France 1-0 and Italy 2-0, lost to Brazil 2-1 but still came out winners :cool: All that about Sweden was just in response to some other Swede dude calling England, I actually rate Sweden quite highly, but we still gonna beat you in WC ;) |
