well seriously there are different levels of strength in people's belief systems...
obviously i could probably never marry someone who is sooooo fanatically christian or jewish because they are retarded...
but i know lots of people that are christian, but it isn't like the defining characteristic of their life...so i think i could be with someone like that without it ever being a real large problem... |

| I don't even think I could handle spending an extended amount of time with somebody who said stuff like "Please Lord, [insert wish here]" all the time. I mean, I respect that you are religious and look to a 'higher power' for help in your life, but that ain't me. |

| When it comes to marriage & religion I am very very pickey on the religion of my wife. She has to be 1/2 Christian, 1/2 Jewish, 1/2 Muslim, 1/2 Hindo & 1/2 Slut. |

I agree that organized religion has become something of an industry. However, thats macro level. There are still many devoted people who restrain themselves, or try to be less angry in the name of religion.
There are also those who kill and condemn people in the name of religion.
There are people who restrain themselves and be less angry for the sake of highblood pressure and history of rage
there are those that kill and condemn people because they have high blood pressure and a history of rage.
point: People are people. For every point, there is a counter point.
The main ideas I take away from Christianity are what God told to Peter. The core concepts of love thy neighbor, gather with your fellow man, and more broadly, enjoy this amazing world youve been given.
Ive climbed 4000 foot mountains at 3am Sunday mornings to watch a sunrise over Mt.Rainier. I sit there while the entire world sleeps and bask in the amazing life Ive been granted.
Ive tried to be more understanding, I take an interest in the beliefs of others....I dont think sitting in a church or wearing a cross (which I do) makes me any better. It is just something to remind me of how amazing everything is! I hadnt gone to church in over a year, when one sunday I decided to. The next morning I foolishly rolled off a cliff. They were shocked I was alive, much less uninjured, my airbag didnt even have to go off. It looked like the hand of God was around the driver (me).
I mean, I think its great (sarcasm) that some people try to take away others belief in God, to lessen their feelings of warmth, friendship, and connected ness, but I think that you should try to understand it before you attack it. There are some lonely people out there, and God is the only person thats keepin them on this earth with some Hope. ... just think you should be less upset about it all...dont get why someone believing in something where you believe there is nothing would upset you so much.
ah well.
I believe in Zen to a pretty large degree, and it makes up a lot of my day to day philosophy. I dont think any ONE thing is right, and I go off the basis that God is logical and wouldnt care that much as long as you pretty much got it right and sent some love back up the pipe you know?
Speaking of which, your moment of Zen
