I hope this law doesn't pass, I know way too many people who sell drugs at my school.

It is really scary, a law that could send me to prison if I don't inform on my firends. I know this may be a low blow, but I always thought requiring kids to be informants was a nazi-ish practice, I don't want to send those people to jail because they aren't hurting anybody, but if the cops find them and realize that I knew them, then they will put me in jail? It wouldn't be much better for me if I told on them all, I would quickly become the most hated person in the city, I could see myself getting booted out of parties and stuff for doing it, I could see a friend of someone's friend coming aftr me upon realizing that I have been narcing on people.

This is friggin scary, this law would friggin rock the schools in my area, especially appalactian. I mean one very average kid knows at least 3 other kids who sell drugs, at least it seems that way in these parts.

I mean, I'd be happy to have a scene with less drugs, but this just isn't the right way to do it, sending me to prison or alienating me from the population that is involved in drugs is only going to hurt me, the drug pushers will still get around it, the law would target victims, not villains.

I think everyone is missing the point completely. Can anyone here make an argument against this bill that better than "omg wtf i'll do drugs anyway???" Seriously. This attitude right here is why politicians walk all over us!

READ THIS: INFO ON RAVE ACT

In case it hadn't occurred to you:
1) drugs ARE illegal. There I said it. It doesn't matter if you think it isn't because when you get caught guess what a judge will think of that defense?
2) this bill is misdirected. Clubbers are not the problem; people who like trance are not the problem. People who sell drugs are the problem and the fact that I have seen people take exstacy (sp?) and smoke marijuana DOES NOT mean that I am all of a sudden a criminal. The problem here is that this bill promotes the loss of individuality (a current trend) and one's ability to make their own decisions. I personally don't give a frak what you do to yourself because it doesn't affect me (i am a libertarian if you couldn't tell).

3) Congressman Sensenbrenner is a terrible, terrible uber-conservative career politician who has written some of the more egregious legislation I've ever come across. The biggest recent example is the Real ID act.

There, hopefully this will get some more informative dialogue going on.

Nice...lets dump people caught selling drugs in the scene into the same group as sexual predators (especially child molesters) and murderers. Of course we still let people convicted of multiple (alcohol) DUI's walk the street with no real harsh offense. Life in prison without the possibility of parole is not the answer. I know many people that were very caught up in the drug scene that live completely normal drug free lives now. For some people drugs are an addiction (mental and/or physical). It doesn't mean they are a bad person. If someone is selling heroin you can't possibly compare that to someone that sells weed or pills. If you feel compelled to compare them and want to group them all together then you need to get off of TA and go educate yourself. :thepirate

this is the truth...

the simple fact is, that as in medicine, there is more money in treatment than in cure or prevention.

few ever bother to attack the source of the problem. only the effect. 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.' im sure ive heard that somewhere.

i guess the 'uber-conservatives' feel that they can kill 2 birds with one stone. destroy 'unsupervised' drug sales, and end club culture by making club owners so paranoid they will not hold such events... but little do they know, a junkie is going to get a fix one way or another. both with respect to drugs, and music.

'warehouse party anyone?'

Mr. Pink
you know, whatever anyone says......

i think the politicians making this bill should be sent for a lifetime in prison without parole for being a complete douchebags

:haha:

drugs- you can quit, stop selling, go to rebah, and the like...

but being a douchebag is Irreversible:stongue:

This is really scaring me alot, I know kids who have been physically harmed when people start narcing on each other.

I mean, I could go to prison, or I could risk having a run in with those shady drug people who might find me through friend of a friend of a friend connections.

I know neighbors who have been beaten up, I have heard stories from friends about kids getting shot, I don't want to go telling on people, I think I would rather get sent to jail than risk what might happen if people found out I narced on their friends.

and I'm not even the one using or spreading the drugs!

I think that this law will hurt kids like me who aren't even involved in drug distribution moreso than it will stop drug use. Definately misdirected punishment and putting innocent kids in a lose-lose situation.

I think that the "they will keep doing drugs anyway" defense is still valid despite what politicians think of it. Nobody wants to pass a law that is inefective in solving the actual problem.

Errrrr, wait, nevermind, everybody wants to pass laws that are innefective at solving problems, that way they can look like they re doing something abot it without pissing off all the voters that are part of it, silly political games, like "we'll fund some research" instead of actually fixing the issue, wheeeeee!.

heh... I'm not concerned about what the government does to stop this scene. The more regulations the government puts, the more it will grow because the masses are attracted to rebellious scenes. That's why hiphop is so popular.

What is really scary is when a rave becomes as lame and boring as a highschool dance. Then you know the scene is dead.

Just my 2 cents...
