I've only seen her once or twice, at the Comfort Zone...she's pretty awesome. She's a resident there I believe.

For some strange reason I always thought Sydey Blu was a guy :haha: :stongue: oooops...in any case she was really wicked, banging out some great great beats...and quite sexy as well ;) something about a hot girl on the decks with headphones on her really got me thinking lol...

anyway she also played pump the jam at the end of her set...

Yeah man, can't wait to party it up either, although I'm kinda slowly moving away from the scene, other responsbilities in life ie. job, gf etc. etc. but definitely will hit up GG2 if not some event before that (hopefully, can't really stay away from the guv for that long)

************SCUMFROG/SYDNEY BLU/DEKO-ZE REVIEW*********************

left my house in the pouring rain.....after posting crazy buzz drunk FROG messages.....and arrived safe/sound and DRY to System at around 11:00.

damn! I knew I should have posted earlier the weekend is all blurring into one..........................

So yeah, got in the door (guestlist - thanks Mikey Babb/Deko-ze!) and greeted all my TA friends in the front room - which at that point consisted of 2 - this number grew to the power of 5 by the end of the night.......which kinda unfolded like this.........

Sauntered up to the bar upon arriving and ordered a REV - proceeded to chat it up with JOHN TANG for a bit (sorry John...sometimes I do go on.:D) left John to his OWN devices and proceeded into the main room. SYDNEY was playing her brand of funked up/fun house. If you have not had a chance to hear this girl spin before - you are missing out on a very deservedly respected up and comer.......honing her skills over the last 18 months Comfort Zone/Film Lounge......she is following very well aside DEKO-ZE's foot steps. Her afternoon sets on the DOCKS patio for SOUTH BEACH SUNDAYS were a staple last summer and ever since she has been blowing audiences/dancefloors away......with a knack for playing UPFRONT British house anthems with big dirty basslines - this native of Thunder Bay - is an inspiration to the local DJ circuit - a foxy lady with a great heart and awesome energy behind the decks - she can definitely hold her own against the big boys. 5ive niteclub is very lucky to have her as resident for Bitchslap Friday's. Her 2.5 hour set was amazingly well put/spun together and a very good warm-up for Jesse/SCUMFROG's brand of tough funk house beats.

Scumfrog came on around 1:30ish and the energy in the club was already hyped and pumped. By this time I had met over half the people I would meet that night - I was all over the place (smoking area/front room/main dancefloor). Needless to say I got my "FREAK ON" and proceeded to throw it down alongside all the TA's FRONT AND CENTRE. I remember vividly talking to NAT and him throwing on Days Go By.....I totally recognized that keyboard echo/delay coming in and looking at her realize this and watching the wave of expression on her face - she was like "IN YEAH!!!..... WICKID"...Arms pumpin' and feet jumpin' we stirred up that dancefloor into a frenzy - everyone was smiling and singing/mouthing the lyrics - it was MINT......I do not think I have ever heard that song sound SOOOOOO good as that night.....and I loved this track when it came out (way before that MITSUBUSHI commercial  ) and it holds alot of precious memories for me.....I equate music to everything in my life.......and this mix/this set changed how I view this song (in nothing but a good way!)....I will always remember this Dirty Vegas track now from THIS night from now on...........you all (TA's) that were there with me on the dancefloor are now benchmarked in my minds eye with this one ;)

RELENTLESS HOUSE BEATS - it just kept going up and up and up - never stopping !!!! I was freaking OUT!!! When Jesse finished his set the dancefloor exploded into applause and cheers!!!! I don't normally like it when there is a "gap/break" between DJ's but my GOD...he deserved the praise and admiration and we (dancefloor) needed it ;)

Definitely of the 4 times I have heard him spin this set was SCUMFROG at his best and I made sure to tell him so after he came off the decks and chilled to the side of the booth with Nat and the posse....which again is a sign of good DJ accessible and zero attitude - a common thread with all 3 DJ's in the main room that night. The DJ's smiles and interaction with the dancefloor brings it up a notch that the records alone cannot do.......

Deko-Ze came on to close the night and whenever he spins at System he brings a certain crowd/demographic that would not normally be there on a regular basis - this man does have a SUBSTANTIAL following in the city and he did not disappoint any of us!!!

Continuing in the vein of Sydney and Scumfrog before him - he kept the dancefloor alit with the raw energy that is
DEKO-ZE........a consumate DJ/producer/entertainer he is most times dancing and smiling harder (behind the decks) than those who are losing it (in front of them)......:toothless

Those whose asses had been whipped from the nights assault of pounding beats from SCUMFROG and left shortly after missed a great set from the D-MAN........I nearly e my pants when he dropped HARDFLOOR - ACPERIENCE.........this german trance/acid classic from 1991 is one of my all time favourite original trance tracks.........that 303 bouncy bassline - had me flippin out on the floor!!! 2 other people actually interuppted me dancing and asked me what the track was - I was like "this track is a 15 year old classic.. DANCE BIAAATCH!!!!"
WICKID!!.........Deko-Ze was bobbin away and we smiled at each other......I love it when he does this........plays a track so out of the realm of a normal tracklisting for a nights set.....and people think its new!!! I was impressed when he played Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke (hardfloor mix) - 2 years ago in the mainroom - but this was by far THE BOMB for me of his set (this track is also being revived on the new GLOBAL UNDERGROUND 28 from NICK WARREN SHANGHAI - released this JULY - woohoo NICK WARREN can't wait!!!)....FYI..........not to mention after playing DK - Murder was the Bass (remix), Max Graham - Owner of a Lonely Heart, Juliet - Avalon........he drops POLTERGEIST-VICIOUS CIRCLES (original) again another classic trance track this one from the PLATIPUS label....PLATIPUS=GOOD TRANCE with over 100 releases to date...Simon Berry is man to be respected!!! I remember when Robert Miles Children - first came out - late 94/early 95 the only cd to get it on domestically was a double disc cd called Platipus Records - The Ultimate Dream Collection [Popular 1996].......sooo many people bought this cd for CHILDREN but the treasure trove of trance tracks from this album reads like a classic trance top 100 list.....alas like the DAFT PUNK album HOMEWORK - most people played the one track off it (leaving themselves seriously uneducated) and never fully appreciated the tracks bought with their measly 15-20 dollars......:whip:
You can probably find it for 5 bucks in a bargain bin THANKS POPULAR RECORDS!!! In 2000 POPULAR disolved and the back catalogue was extensive so records stores could buy the album at 3 dollars cost!!!!!! Anywho.......Deko-Ze ended the night (encore) with his signature playlist track GWEN STEFANI - WHAT YOU WAITING FOR (Jacques Le Cont remix)....perfect! - left us waiting for more is what he did but alas 6:30 was almost upon us...........bar staff were itching to get on with it and close up....my voice was WRECKED by the end of the night......my shouts of WICKID and SICK left my vocal cords in shreds but DAMN...if the tracks had not been what I had been shouting.......that never woulda happened!!!!!! :happy2:

NOT ONLY WAS I THE LAST TA leaving SYSTEM I was the last patron PERIOD - HA!!! talked with Mike for a bit(about the new house he bought/was moving into) and walked him to his car shortly after 7:00 - he offered me a ride home but I had my IPOD with me and I walked the 20 minute walk home - ROBOTIC POEM - SANTIAGO NINO and HELLO STRINGS never sounded so clean and pristine..........a smile on my face and a bounce in my steps - an awesome night out!!!!!!!

So...........now the shout outs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :toocool:

Starsearcher - Introduced myself to you on the dancefloor - and as someone posted earlier - your dancing partner was HOT!!!! WORD!

I know I am forgetting people - lord knows I met sooo many people that night....(Highrollers friend, MarkT's friend....etc) For that I am sorry - but my mind was on overdrive processing the beats/people/dance steps/drinks/smokes........muuwahhhhh!!
