im now 18 and i have been thinking for some time to move away from my parents house and get my own crib. I like to play loud music and dj often, now for my question, would that bother the people next door? i mean, dont they make sound proof walls now a days. im asking those who have an apartment.

every building is different. you have to look around a LOT to find what's right for you.

but if it's sound you're worried about, get an apartment on the top floor at the end of the hall to minimize the # of neighbors you'll have.

Agreed. Our building was ventilated to be "sound proof." It wasn't...
Orbax
apartments are not sound proof, ever. Youll get a noise violation and a bad relationship with your neighbors. get some good headphones or learn to love music at a reasonable volume :D
Floorfiller
they will get pissed just like your parents hehe :p

how are u paying for your apartment?

get some buddies together and purchase a house. ;), make sure they have jobs and like loud music though.

I literally had to buy a new crappy sound system because my old sound system was too good. Even with the equalizer all the way down the bass still hit...and since everything was powered through the sub there was no other option to buy a crappy one. To play music loud...you need a house

Yes

it bothers people

the moment you move in, find out who lives above, bellow you.

say hi

introduce yourself.

tell them if they ever have any problems to call you or to come up to your door and handle it with you.

that way, they wont call the cops.

then test your limits

see how loud you can play it, or when they go to work...
figure out their schedules and spin during those moments to practice

use yer brain and everything should turn out fine :)

One word for you kid:
Grow up!

If you're considering getting your own place and your primary concern is being too loud you are NOWHERE near old/mature enough to even deserve having your own place.

Neigbhours aren't a$$holes if they want the sound down, they are people too and they have jobs and lives and most people cba with a loud kid living next door and will do everything to boot them.

There are times for being loud but if it's a constant deal get yourself a house.

Efficient sound proofing is way too expensive so most places never have enough of it.
