The London trance scene has a number of very talented female trance DJs, including Tania Mann, Sophie Sugar, Starlet (aka Lizzie Curious) and Pandora S-K. |

| What I always have with female dj's is that they mostly had a stranded modellingcareer, ed a well-known dj and became dj through that. :nervous: |

there has been thousands of topics about this
general agreement is that strangely there's very few well known female dj's, and those are mostly very bad musically and only well known due to their looks |

Oh.. Well there aren't many female trance dj's out there. The best ones seem to be spinning the harder styles (anne savage, lisa lashes, pin-up etc.) |

there arent many female djs because on the whole these days it doesnt appeal to as many girls as guys statistically, not because girls dont have what it takes to do it. I think its pretty sexist to say that the few girl djs who have become successful, are only doing well because they look good, thats basically saying "no girl is clever enough to be a dj, and the girl djs who are around are anyway"...
Like I said, I know a few girl djs, and they are very good. sure there is probably a bunch of girls who are better known for their image than their dj skills but this certainly doesnt apply to "most"...
I hope to see more female djs and producers emerge... There seem to be more around these days than in the past. :) Anyone with a brain and a bit of creativity can be a dj or producer, or any other kind of musician, it really makes no differnce whether or not you have ! |

I enjoy looking at a good female dj as much as the next guy, but a good bust line and a thong will not make up for a train wreck. . .
and, yes, pics would make this thread better |

Females who are really producing is rare.
Example: Kenji Ogura feat Melanie di Tria - Kryssage Typ A (& B)....
Melanie di Tria is a female dj who signed at Tracid Traxxx. But Kenji Ogura produced the entire track. It has happened so much that if a female DJ is named in the artistname of a production, that the real producer is, in this case, the male.
Example II: Lashed mixed by Lisa Lashes
You think you're buying a (very good) hardhouse cd mixed by Lisa Lashes. Than you see on the back in tiny characters: Mix produced and engineered by Ingo.
Example III (and the worst): Thunderdome 2004 Anthem - Korsakoff
She is probably the prime example for 'good looks' and 'no talent'. She's pretty popular here in Holland, despite all ups....
How can female dj's can be taken seriously with examples like this. Don't get me wrong, I think Lisa and Melanie are excellent dj's. But....this is a little bit of a shame. |
