I have seen this feature advertised on Allen & Heath mixers, but i have no clue what it is or what it does. Can someone please explain?

this means that there's no audio signal on your faders and equalizer buttons, but a DC voltage. This gives a better sound, because noise created by a bad fader or equalizer button is not affecting the audio signal

? Isn't filtering something else than EQ-ing? Equalizer doesn't use a VCF...and faders sure as hell don't...in synths, amplitude is controlled by VCA (voltage controlled amplifier)....If a mixer has a VCF it means it has a couple of knobs (typically "cutoff" and "resonance"/"Q") which allow you to tweak the filter....allowing you make sweeps (swoooooooosj-ish sounds) in your set, using the incoming signal as sound source. |

i was wrong pjotr-g, the thing i explained is VCA, instead of VCF. Sorry :sadgreen:. But they use VCA in faders, as i remeber it from the Dateq site: "The cross-fader is connected between the outermost channels of the XTC and, together with the channel faders, is VCA operated, in order to exclude interference and to guarantee years of troublefree use."

| the VCF filters in the A&H mixers do sound very nice. some filters sound downright bad. Non musical @ all. There isnt a single bit Ive found in the A&H that isnt musical. they blow my mind. PERIOD! |
