Socialism in the 21st century

I was wondering what would your views be about Socialism and Marxism. Although I know that many of you are American, and thus have lived for your entire lives under Capitalism, how do you feel about the ever increasing economical differences between different nations (particularly between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere)?

Roger Garaudy said that Karl Marx has won the battle against Adam Smith, and that the XXth century means not the death of socialism, but the death of capitalism. As more and more people all over the world get nearer and nearer to the farthest limits of poverty, the world economy gets acaparated by only a few multinational groups.

Do you think that Socialism will reaper throughout the world, in a new, "reinvented" form? Or will USA continue to spread its "market monotheism" among all other nations and cultures all over the world?

my friend, under socialism, there are far more people below the poverty line than in capitalism. in capitalism, u can actually work to your advancement, and most times, u rise up the ladder of capitalism based on merit and skill. not possible in socialism. socialism was however a temporary remedy to the beleagered masses of europe during the early 20th century.

and i do applaud the democratic socialist party of america, because they are the ones who get the minimum wages increased, meaning more money for me :D :D

BOTTOM FEEDER!

nah, what i used to hate was when i was working for a little over minimum wage, and they raised it to what i was making, ie, im making 6/hr, they raise it to six, and then my boss refuses to give me a raise to the 7.

oh uhhh, what is this monotheism of which u speak of the USA trying to spread. if that, the USA is in the throes of theistic right fighting a secular/liberal left. and it seems like the liberals are gaining small plots of ground along the way. the US gov't definatly is not spreading religion.
