Well right when Sony got into gaming with PS1 people knew Nintendo was done since Sony's pockets were so much deeper. Then Microsoft decided to give it a run & Gates knew he could challenge any company & made an awesome system. Sony stayed alive with rights to games & lower cost. Then when Sony decided to design PS3 in like 2001 they got 2 other huge companys involved (i think Toshiba, but forgot the other) to make the system & wanted to make something that would be unbeatable. Also to own the patents so no one can make the same or similar for some years. So I think Nintendo knew they were done a while ago. Game Cube was thier last hurrah. |
Actually, Nintendo is getting it's together with their next console. Unfortunately the reputation of the Cube is hurting them a bit in the publics/media's eye. Believe me they're not done. A lot of it is because of their last CEO who was a very old-school, conservative CEO that thought Nintendo could do their own thing and everyone will still care.
And Yan...whats your point that no one mentions Nintendo? It was always obvious that mainstream media are pretty biased. |

Just wanted to point out what I found so amusing. :p Wherever you go it's really a sad case. I feel proud to be a retro gamer, though. NINTENDO FOREVAR! |

This week will make or break Nintendo.
So far it seems they're doing the right thing, but it's all up in the air until tomorrow's conference. If they reveal enough information to get the media's attention, but hold back enough to keep people intrigued then they're on the right track. And they need a BIG game for their launch. |

i predict nintendo being software-only in the next ten years or so. those specs of the ps3 look pretty good 400gb seems a bit excessive tho.
you can't go wrong with the trusty dreamcast. i suggest that everyone go out and buy one immediately. |

Anything is possible right now.
You do know they're supporting regular DVD format next though, right? So the possiblity of DVD playback is there. Plus, online will be standard too.
I hope the console looks like this:

Supposedly, the new Nintendo console will be almost just as big as standard DVD case. (:eyes: ) |
