mixers for beginners

soon i will be purchasing a pair of cdj200s. this is mostly for bedroom djing. im wondering what kind of mixers you guys recommend. i only need 2 channels for now. something under 300 dollars. maybe something that would last longer than my cdjs when i upgrade to other decks. i will not be scratching and i would really at least some features on the thing, like eq kill switches and other stuff (i dont really know what)

i dont really know anything about anything. i mostly learned from searching and reading stuff on this forum.

2 mixers so far have caught my eye. denon x300 and pioneer djm707. but from what i understand 707 is better for battling than mixing. will denon x100 do the job for a beginner? which is the best mixer for making smooth mixes and transitions?

also going beyond the decks, mixers, and headphones. what other equipment do i need for djing. amp? speaker? will my oldass stereo speakers do the job for bringing sound out of my setup? please teach me.

Hello Interlude, I was in your situation about 2 years ago.

The denon x300 and x100 look like good beginner mixers. I would stray from behringer and numark 'beginner' products, they dont offer good sound. I dont know what kind of genre you plan on going into, but you may want to purchase a mixer with an FX unit on it[Numark DXM-06: $260], or FX In/Out. Eventually you will want to be more creative with the tracks that you have, becuase if you only have 50 vinyls... you can only play.........50 vinyls. With an FX unit or Sampler you can simply add a new dimension, play with loops, echos, delays...etc

I used an American DJ QD-5 for the bulk of my beginning, then upgraded to the Numark DXM-06. The 06 is a great mixer, though I wish I would have waited for the DXM-09 [3 channel]

If you have any other questions im sure more people will reply, or you can pm me or email me [email protected]

The Denon and Pio are both excllent beginner mixers. You may also wanna check out the new ECLER NUO2...is another 2-channel mixer, might suit your tastes. I see you live in NYC, they have them at The Turntable Lab if ya wanna check em out.
