overly feminine gay guys (pg. 2)

If you're not a homophobe, why would you care what clothes other guys are wearing, or how they talk? I mean, there's some kinds of clothes I wouldn't feel comfortably in, and there's certain kinds of moves and noises I don't feel like doing, but why should I be bothered with other people doing them?
The only thing that I could see being offensive would be repeated pick-up attempts after a clear "no" (e.g. orange shirt guy), but that doesn't seem to be the case here. |

Your failing to see my point. My point is.....why do they have to try so hard to let it be known they are gay? That's ing great if your gay....more power to you. Just don't go around flashing it to everybody....that makes you "fake." IMO |

| What if they think that they're more attractive to other gay men acting/dressing this way? That their behaviour is not meant as a provocation/advertisement for gay rights, but just the standard adaption to the ideals you think other holds. |

Ok so what your saying is that gay guys have to act like women to attract other gay guys?
I understand what your saying....but the whole feminine factor really boggles my mind. |

Well, pretty much: I'm saying that gay guys might *believe* that they have to act girlish in order to attract other guys. Whether or not it's a true belief I don't know, but I can certainly see how such a belief might come to be. Think of this: If you see some guy getting a girl you're sweet on, then you'll try to figure out what kind of advantage he's got over you, and maybe buy a similar shirt next time you shop, start working out, or get to know this Nietzsche-guy (joking - philosophy never gets girls:)) so that you can increase your chances of getting as lucky as he got. Now, if you were gay, you'll notice that all the guys are seemingly attracted to feminine behaviour and clothing, so what would be the obvious conclusion if you want to be more attractive to guys? Be as feminine as you can.
Seeing that I've been straight for quite a while now, I'm obviously throwing wild guesses here. But I've thought quite a bit about it, and so far am pretty satisfied with how that explains "flaming" behaviour to me. At least I'm not awkwardly stiff around overly gay people, even though I used to be.
Off topic: Actually the entire concept of non-reproductive sexual attraction (homosexuality, necrophilia, fetishes, etc.) fascinates me no end. It seems so crazy, but at the same time there's so many people taken by it, that it cannot reasonably be explained as random mutation, I think.

| People are who they are, you either accept them or you don't. If it bothers you how a person acts gay/straight/bi/whatever then just don't pay attention to it, it's like listening to music. If you don't like a song you are listening to then turn it off; if you don't like the show you are watching then change the channel. SImply just ignore them. Why get annoyed at people for doing what makes them happy? Let them wear their pink shirts and get their manicures, it's not hurting any one. i have many many many gay friends and I know how bitchy they can get, and I just ignore all their drama and tell them they are acting like little girls :gsmile: |

Speak for yourself...I DO see lesbians walking around like dudes. There are 3 of em at my job. Short hair cuts and dress like men even use the mens room. They are nice so they dont bother me either. Nothing new, I dont care about anyone else's preference. |

Ok your comparisons are not very good ones. If there is a song on that I don't like....I turn it off. If there is a tv show I don't like....I change the channel. If there is a gay person sitting right next to me talking at the top of his lungs in a ridiculously feminine voice....it's kinda hard to ignore that.
Im not asking for advice on how to deal with these situations. This is simply just a rant that I felt like talking about on here....nothing more, nothing less.;) |
