Is Republik Good On Saturdays ???

| My girlfriend Ashley and I are coming up to Toronto this Saturday to celebrate my b-day. We've been to a lot of clubs in Toronto, but haven't checked out Republik yet. I know the club looks amazing, but we wanna hear some good music too (Trance/House). It looks like they just have residents there this Saturday. Just wondering if they are any good... or if we'd be better off hittin' up Boa or Spin Saturdays at Guv. I know there are some big parties on Sunday, but we are just gonna be there for Saturday. Thanks for any suggestions.. |

if you like house music, you'll have a great time!!!
when i was there it was funky house all nite long, with some variations (ie. a bit of prog, and some trance, but mostly house) prolly only mostly trance if a guest is in. |

republik is quite a bit of fun. Its all house in the main room and the vibe is getting better every week. I have to admit that when it first opened i didnt like the crowd but the last couple of weeks it's been amazing and thats largely due to the reputation that republik is gaining as a destination for house music. Its definately a place to go if you want house early on.
Guv isnt a bad choice either but its a later crowd. My suggestion is to hit republik until 2ish and then hit guv until 7am. That way you get the best of both worlds. Mark plays probably the most upfront music in the city especially for a venue that size.
PS: "just" residents are often times much better than the internationals especially in a city like Toronto that is over flowing with a lot of under rated talent. remember that those internationals are "just residents" somewhere in the world as well. |

if you want seriously great sound and a lotsa house/prog-house/groovy-house, etc... get to Boa.
doors may be at 1am, but it's a the best after-hours club I know of in Toronto... many ppl will agree i think. |

No one is saying its an underground club. But its almost the only commercial club where you wont hear hip hop in the main room. Thats a big deal in today's toronto. And the house although commercial is still really good. It's a fun time and like i said my perfect night would start at republik since there is no hip hop and lots of girls and end at either guv or boa. |

no hip hop, quality house...and its fun when its on the recognizable funky side sometimes. |
