| I was fired with extreme prejudice several years back. They booted me out, withheld my severance check, and since they "fired" me, I was not able to collect UI. Long story short, I got a lawyer, he put a little pressure on them, and they quickly reversed everything. So I got my severance and began collecting UI on top of receiving my first giant ass UI check that had been building up while the legal was going on. In the end, it all worked out but I still hate that company with a passion... |

Sorry, but I don't have a gf right now so I needed someone to bitch about this to.

It's not just your office trust me :P ( I'm sure you're aware of that ).
Last company I was at before I moved was for a year and a half. Big structure about 85 people total big call center warehouse research facility. It was soooooooo disorganized.
I think we just care because we're young and not yet jaded so we want to put an effort but we eventually learn that it doesn't matter cause once you're gone up the ladder you can sleep.
After 6 months being there they made me manager of people there for over 10 years.
The president didn't even have a secretary he insisted on controlling everything himself. If a refund check had to be sent to customer he had to personaly verify it. Control freak but letting all the loose ends in the worst places.
The two call center floor managers were the laziest workers in the place. One being fag boy and the other lady being fat girl. Both spent their days ordering lunch or chatting with the little crew of priviliged lazy workers around them.
The company used to also change policies on a nearly daily basis but NOT put it on paper on purpose so they could easily retract and also not leave a paper trail.
Some of the call center stuff was clearly illegal they used to rip off other companies we used to subcontract for ( like black and decker sony panasonic delonghi etc etc ) or stuff was packaged poorly it was amazing we didn't have a higher return rate.
A couple times I took some complaint letters from the Better Business Bureau and threw them away ( when I wasn't even supposed to have these letters in my possession ) just so the company would get in serious trouble :stongue:
It's funny how they threatened to fire me once or twice ( not sure if it was technically twice ) and now they want me to come back to work over there .....
The research team of 4 people I used to work with has been cut down to 1 person since january and well it's not working out for them at all :stongue: |

theoretical difference yes, but very little difference in terms of how you feel. I've been laid off twice - a jewellery shop and a takeaway and they both closed down. But every one of the members of staff who worked there were pissed off to begin with, but then ended up in jobs that were actually better than the ones they got out of. One door closes, another door opens. ;) |

she's right.
btw, i've been laid off by a small struggling company and it sux. We were kind of a family and for a while I blamed myself for not producing fast enough. Eventually I realize after they went out of business a year later that it wasn't me. Thats just the way I am, I want to do the best possible job and succeed at whatever I'm doing. |

| I hate casual work because you never know where you stand.. ive had a number of experiences where they didnt exactly tell me i dont have a job but they never give me work and just keep saying that something may come up during the "busy times". Was messed with like that for months, couldnt get a straight answer out of the pricks. :mad: |

@ Original poster.
I got laid off due to workforce reduction. Basically the same thing that happened to you. No one sees it coming but it is something to expect when you are working under "Contract". It happened to me the day after i bought my bike. I found out when the lady from accounting came down to take my time card and how many hours i had worked that day. I asked why, and she told me so i could get paid for the work i'd done. I was confused and then she told me that she thought that it was my last day. So i went and talked to the shop foreman and explained it all to me. |

i used to work wit ha guy who looked like a troll that hit a growth spurt. 5'11" but just had this big wierd head. he was just missing the costume. |
