REVIEW
I was so impressed with Avalon last night, it looked extra nice! They had Fire Breathers, Arial Acrobats, Freaks, Cool Visuals, Fluffly Pillows, and tons of Video Games all over the place. It was awesome. The crowd was a little PLUSH but it was good. They even had a celebrity RED CARPET. Woohoo...
Off course, it's Avalon and problems are to happen. When i showed up, the organizers forgot to make a print out of the PRESS List. Grrrrr... After waiting for almost 30 minutes for them to fix their mistake, I was let in. And to make things worse, I forgot my Press Pass and my business card. So yeah, that didn't go too well. But after all that hassle, we were finally let in before the club opened. We sat in for a good 30 minutes watching everyone do the production work. Wow, it's amazing how many people work together to make that event possible. Easily at least 100 people.
The show finally began and the opening DJ was not appealing. He was playing some weird . I understand that this was a special event and they have to tailor to everyone, but this guy was just horrible. Then Mark Ronson took over. After hearing all the hype about him on THE CLUB (Spike TV), I must say this guys is WACK!!! Not what I expected at all. He's just average, it took a long time to build his set and to keep the crowd going. He was playing hip hop, which I admitt, I do too, but serously, this guy has issue. NOT GOOD... He played several mash ups that were ear piercing, and he was quick mixing, which in hip hop is doable, but you have to wait to the next verse before stoping the song. So yeah, Mark is WACK!
Carlos of Interpol.... argh! Another Celebrity DJ im not intersted in seeing again! He's like whatevers. The only props I do give him, is on some of the 80's he played. He played my jam... FADE TO GRAY!!!!!
DJ Vice, I never got a chance to see him spin. I really wanted to see him too, maybe he played on the other room.

Well, first time seeing them, and honestly, I was not impressed at all!!! :( Sorry, they just didnt cut it for me. I left half way into their set.
Mutaytor...
AWESOME SHOW. Mutaytor is the arieal acrobats, fire breathers, and freaks. Fantastic performance. They get my respect.

| Well I would have to say that last night made for a most interesting night!! Sweetcandy girl and I got there really early..not sure how crowded it would be..or nutzo..so..we waited in the General line... no list...walked right in..after waiting there an HOUR!! I guess it started at 930? Anyways..between the Freaks..Geeks.. HIP HOP GANGSTAS!! TechnoWeenies..Trance Addicts..and Im sure..drug addicts!! there was a ton to look at!!( PEOPLE WATCHING FOR SURE!!) :eek: We even played a few video games.... the musical hell before 1230 was almost unbearable!! We were tempted to leave... BUT..stuck it out... Deep Dish came on shortly after 1230! worth the wait..omg.. well worth it!! Straight up dance music! very cool!! Id seen them before... and this time was far better... !!:eyes: Id say definately check them out... have an open mind...cuz their musical style is different..but very cool... I was digging it!! Thank you sweetcandy girl..as always! YOu rock...and to those who bought us drinks!! Thank you!! Woody.. for dancing with us..and keeping us company during the 3 hour delay!! ;) It was good to see a lot of familiar faces too... from spundae\heaven! |

got there mad late, went through a bunch of crap to get in and Deep Dish was already on.
i dunno, but i thought Deep Dish was really good, here was some of the tracks i recognized:
some remix of Flashdance that had the guitar riff from that 80s song that goes "money for nothing and your chicks for free"

From 9:30-12:30 I was in hell! No matter where Kris and I walked too Crapy Hip-hop was blasting out of the speakers. It was awesome that there was "circus" acts on the stage but the muisc was aweful! ICK.
Kris and I all most left but wanted to stick it out for Deep Dish since I have never seen them before.
I have to say I was really really impressed. There was only a couple times that they lost me. But pretty much the whole time I was dancing. :D From 1-2. :eyes: WOW! There was a more trancy feel to the music at that time. :)Out of the 2 I liked the guy with out the beard the most.
Kris and I where lucky enough to get on stage and I got my picture with each one of them!!! (WHOOO HOOO!)

I hate all of you!!!!
After I was invited to this party from 8 different companies, I found my ass on the E3 show floor in our booth working 18-20 hour days every day last week...including the night all of you were at Avalon dancing your asses off. :p
Also missed The Chemical Brothers and the Killers at Microsoft's party Monday night at The Shrine since I had to rush back after the Xbox (360) press conference to do coverage on it for GameSpot.
I want to cry.
Oh well, kick ass weekend coming up. :p
