Moving to Tampa/St. Petersburg Area

HI All --
I will be moving to the Tampa/St. Pete area in August and I am looking for suggestions on cool places to party and live. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

| depends on what you are looking for, but if you want to be close to the party spots, trendy restaurants, etc. i would suggest south tampa/ hyde park area to live. maybe ybor city as a 2nd choice. new tampa is a nice place to live as well, but more family- oriented and about a 30 min drive to ybor or south tampa. my favorite place in to hang out in tampa is hyde park cafe. has an indoor and an outdoor area. tuesday and/ or saturday nights are the best nights. of course you have ampitheater on saturdays as well. if you have any specific questions just post up and i'm sure someone can answer. good luck! |

good stuff. i go to that cafe all the time. play chess outside on the tables sometimes. watch all the dogs that walk by, everyone seems to have a dog in hyde park.
i wouldnt live in ybor. pretty high crime area. and weird goes on all the time. i walked down 7th last weekend and saw a homeless guy screaming and pointing at something that wasnt there. he'de walk, then turn around and start screaming, and then walk some more, and then do it again. dont live near that .
i go to the underground on friday night. |

| Ybor isn't that bad. I lived in some pretty cool apartments Camden Ybor for a year and a half. They are quite pricey but have the safety and security of a garage and gated entrance. I loved it there!! It is annoying sometimes hearing the choppers circling the airs late at night on the weekends but I'm usually out partying most of the time. You have the convenience of walking to all the clubs and restaurants on 7th Ave. You can't beat that. Channelside and Hyde Park District are both only 5 minutes away. These are all good places to live and have easy access to the nicest clubs and restaurants in South Tampa. There are only 3 nice districts in Tampa I considered feasible to live by my standards if you want to be near all the party spots. They are South Tampa, Westchase/Town N Country, and Brandon/Riverview. I now reside in Riverview which is only 20 min away from Downtown but I'm looking to move back to S. Tampa. I work, hangout, and party in S. Tampa so it's only logical that live there. Hope this helps. :D |

i live in westchase. and its nice, but everything is far away. takes me 25-30 minutes to reach any of those places. south tamoa, hyde park, ybor. and i spend most of my time in south tampa. most of my friends live theire, i work there, go to school there, i really dunno why i live so : far north but i do:conf:conf: :conf: .
