damn, i never knew ghb was that addictive...
i know a few peeps that have done it, but they never got addicted at all.
i would never do it anyway, i'd never even heard of it until a couple years ago when my friend did it at a party... he overdosed, went into a coma, and his heart stopped :(. amazingly, he was revived, and he's alive and well these days :).
thanks for the article TC!

GHB is scary . :( Not really that much fun either. It's like being drunk, but really spacy and hyper. One time my friend -as a "joke"- poured an extra cap and a half in my drink and didn;t tell me. I kept passing in and out of consciousness, and ultimately fell down the stairs. Good times. Not only is it dangerous, it's the most foul tasting liquid on earth.
my advice: drink beer. |

Frightening article though...
But i do agree you felt like drunk without any headaches.
And this definitely a fool drug to make inconscious victims if not told or mix with alcool.
Thx for this m8. |

| I thought GHB was bad in college...I would go clubbing and see people all "g"'ed up...horrible. Then the real thing that made me anti ghb was that two guys i knew in college took some to get "high" and both passed out...one went into respitory (sp) failure. His roommate found him not breathing and blue...they threw him in the shower not knowing what he had taken...and called 911. Thank goodness he was resuscitated (sp) and was fine. But if it hadnt of been for his roomie he would have died. Pretty scary. |

yep, definetly a scary thing to get messed up with...
hopefully its popularity will decrease once people get a bit more informed about it. |

For those of you that have taken it, or had friends have bad experiences with it, I am really surprised you have never done any research into it...
GHB is a chemical which is found naturally in your body and is used during the process of falling asleep. The drug was first used with humans as a sleep aid by a company in the UK. I can not remember their website right now but go looking...they've got a lot of really interesting information on it regarding the history/effects/etc. I do remember what it said though so I will sort of paraphrase here:
By increasing your natural levels of GHB these scientist theorized that they could help people sleep in a safe manner. Why not give them a chemical that was already in their body? How harmful could that be? They started selling the drug and after a while they started getting letters from people telling them that their drug wasn't working anymore.
When they enquired further "what do you mean not working?" they found out that some people experienced energetic euphoria from it instead of the sleepiness that they were supposed to experience. After doing research into this phenomenon they realized that most of the people that were complaining that the drug wasn't working anymore were diagnosed as depressed.
It seemed as though, for depressed people, increasing the natural levels of ghb did not put people to sleep but rather gave them energy and took away their depression. They researched this further and discovered that the reason the drug wasn't working for these people anymore was because their depression had been cured in a way...they didn't NEED it anymore. However, because ghb is addictive (a side effect they hadn't counted on), the people, though technically cured from their depression, still felt that they needed the euphoric feeling.
During their research they also uncovered the fact that any non-depressed person could feel this euphoric state if they took a higher dose of the drug. After completing their research they stopped selling the drug. They were disappointed that they couldn't pursue research into using it as an anti-depresant as it looked like it had real hope, but the addictiveness of it was too much.

Sorry that wasn't written as eloquently as it could have been...I'm just trying to remember what they said and I wish I could remember the url. GHB in theory is a great drug. It lets you have fun and stuff without putting harmful chemicals into your body. But in reality it's horribly addictive, it's terribly dose-sensitive (what you took last time could hardly effect you this time, or it could make you pass out), it's potentially lethal when mixed with alcohol because it turns to a poison in your blood, and the only way of knowing the concentration you got is by buying pharmaceutical grade.
Of course, it's illegal so you can't do that and even when you make it yourself you can't GARAUNTEE what the concentration is because maybe some of the ingredients didn't evaporate all the way, etc etc etc.
I think the thing that surprises me the most about this thread is all of your surprised replies. I don't know how long you guys have been around and involved with our current drug culture but one of the first rules of the game when I first got involved is use drugs, don't abuse them, and that meant educating yourself about them. Knowing the side effects, the way it was supposed to work, the way it would work if it was bad, how it was made, why it was originally made, etc etc etc.
I've used G before and been fine and really enjoyed myself but I would never recommend it to anyone ever because it's so dangerous and people nowadays don't bother educating themselves. They think asking their dealer means they'll know everything they need to. Not So! A friend of mine was selling G and when I quized him on it he had been telling a lot of his customers the wrong thing about how to do it. If in doubt:

There are many more great resources for drug information, but I have found these to be the best regarding ghb specifically (since that is what this thread is about isn't it?). Please educate yourself and your friends...it's the easiest way to prevent tragedy. A responsible drug user is an educated one.

I read the article, it didn't get into the specifics of how to take it?
I've taken liquid GHB before a while back, which [like] 5 times more potent than powder form. My acquaitance gets it straight from the source (who is the friend). It's tricky with the intake. Since if you drink too fast, you'll get wicked sick after coming down (like I did cuz I misheard the instructions). Basically, you should sip the drink until you're finished at 30 minutes.
I've only taken liquid twice and was never hyper, just blissed out.

| Bug bite...I agree with you whole heartedly...I never researched GHB b/c I never took it....though I have done x...and I made sure I knew as much about it as I could before ingesting something. I have come across alot of educated and uneducated druge users in my time. And its the uneducated who go to far...take too much...and dont know how to get themselves out of it...for instance k heads that do too much and dont even know sugar will help them...eat a lolly...grab some sucking candy...one time I gave a lolly to a gurl bc she told me it was the first time she had done k and didnt feel right. i told her sugar always helps...and I knew that and I dont even do k. I just put the article out there bc I found it to be interesting. I also liked how it mentioned that GHB actually causes more deaths then the more famous ecstasy. For along time X has gotten a bad name in the media while drugs like ghb, k, coke, speed and many others are ignored when making references too the rave or club scene. Most people don't realize or report that its usually a combination of drugs with or without alcohol that causes deaths. XTC has a cute and catchy name...its easy to market to scared parents. Umm well I've gone off on a tangent here! lol sawwwwry!;) |
