One thing I'd like to see on the forums is the ability to see the messages in a thread starting from newest and going back to oldest. It'd just be easier to have that setting available in the user profile, so that you can see the newest messages right away instead of trying to pick what page of the thread you want to see. Sure, the button which says 'click to go to first unread message' is helpful, but what if you read a few, and then jumped ahead, and your first unread message is like on page 5 of a 20 page thread? It's really hard to work with if you don't have much time but want to check on something, or if you've got dialup at home and it takes forever and a day to get to what you want to see.
I have this option on my Nissan club forum, and it's the bomb!
Now, I just checked my profile section, and I looked at all the settings in there, but I couldn't find this option. It's possible that I missed it, but I did look for it. So that's why I'm making the suggestion.
peace,

| this is stupid. how does a thread make sense if u read it backwards? if post 15 is a quote of 14, and 18 is also a quote of 14, reading 18 first, and then 15, and then 14, is going to make absolutely no sense at all. |

But if you check the same threads Extremely Regularly, then there's no point in starting at the beginning of the thread every single time. Some people might appreciate the option to skip all the crap they've read already, even if they read like the beginning and skipped over to the end, and would like to just go to the end all the time. Like I said, I have this option on my Nissan forum, and it RULES. What's more, the dates and times are stamped clearly, and so it's easy as cake to just pan down a little bit to get to where you left off if you were on vacation for a couple days and lost touch or something. Plus, there's always the option to switch back if you were gone long enough to have more than a page of unread messages.
My point is that it's a good option to offer members, and it saves a load of time for people who check in every day or whatnot. and especially for people who have dial-up, yes there are some people who still have dial-up, who would otherwise have to wait 5 minutes for one page of messages to load up, and then realize they already read all those, and then sit there and try and pick what page to try and waste time on next.
It's a good IDEA, and something that some people might highly value. This is, after all, the Site Suggestions forum. Don't crap all over an idea if you don't have any experience with it. :whip: |

i ahve some experience with this, and infact for about 20 minutes TA was like that.
it really is not that great of an option. You are probably in the minority of people who woudl want this...So I doubt its worth it to impliment. |

| 'Newest reply,' not 'first unread reply?' If that's so, then that's almost as good. Thanks for the info. |

If you use Thread subscriptions when you click on the changed thread the link will take you to the first unread post. |

Yeah, if. It'd be an option for those who like it, but I'm not for it. |
