is it possible to use your laptop as an additional player? can i plug my laptop into my mixer and actually play the songs on it as if it were another turntable?

what connections would i need?

thanks.
djsnazzy
ya theres no problem doing that exsept for legal matters but yes you can play your comps audio in the mixer just simpley get the line out of the comp and plug it into the back of the mixer . you would have to get a certin lead phonos on one side and a normal headfone jack on the other
DR86
thanks mate...would you happen to know the specific cables needed?
djsnazzy
ya a jack to phono lead

the 2 leads (phono) into the mixer and the jack (one lead) ider into the line out of the labtop are the headphone socket would evin do .

you can do it just fine but on a large number of cases the soundtracks are rather crap with a lot of hiss and digital noise.

It could just work fine for you but it may not.

You may need to get a good external usb soundcard if your laptop sound doesn't live up to what you want quality wise.

laptop djs:stongue: click up some mad sets:tongue3

sorry...had to throw in some sort of criticsism...

anyways yeah its possible... stop by any electronics store and ask for a "RCA to a 1/8 adapter" i belive theyre called... its a cord that plugs into the red and white line in on your mixer and the other end plugs into your laptop/PC's headphone jack or line out (or anything else that has a headphone jack ;) )

Caution tho... unless you have a really good comp/laptop it may backfire on you due to sound quality or memory issues... it works but you gotta have the gear to pull it off... otherwise while you're playing a track and trying to click on other stuff the track skips some, or the changes you try to make are delayed and end up making you cringe

if you have a dedicated laptop for music though like an Ibook or whatever then you should have no problems... ive seen some mad gigs where a laptop was included... total floor ownage:eek:
