hello peoples,
how about a little dinner music.
my brother asked me to put a cd together for him, for a galla or some e he has tomorrow. so i am perusing through my collection at the moment, and all i can actually use is

pachelbel - cannon in d minor

any suggestions. nothing to somber to ruin the mood, and most of my favorite symphonys i fear won't do.
thanx a bunch.

Look at Wynton Marsalis's "Classic Wynton" album if you're going for classical/baroque sounding music.

I'd love to dine to some Cafe Del Mar comps..

You could play the full Requiem by Mozart. That's a truly upbeat piece that doesn't wanna make you drink yourself to death at all. ;)

Some light jazzy stuff might do well. Miles Davis's "Porgy and Bess" CD is great. Chet Baker also played extremely smooth jazz.

Rachmaninov - Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
Boccherini - Minuet
Mozart - Eine Kleine Nacht Music - 2nd mov.

Puccini - Nessun Dorma

Elgar/Vaughn-Williams

You're on the right lines with Pachabel.

Any organ music /choral? Let me know!
blazed it
Thievery Corporation is good to eat too, it's quite relaxing. But if you're not a fan of trip hop it might weird you out when you're eating.

Debussy - Arabesque or Nocturne
Erik Satie stuff, probably not the gymnopedies tho, as they will put people to sleep. :D
Bach - Cello Suites (all of them)

for more "commercial" vocal classical stuff you could try andre bocelli CDs, easy to find and pretty much a collection of all known classical opera songs....

on 2nd thot, depending on how old the crowd is, some light jazz would be good. classical puts some people to sleep, so if it's a gala-type deal where people are chatting and stuff, some coltrane should be nice.

i know its cliche but jazz, classical, or classical guitar make the best dinner mood music.
MERLIN
