I am looking to upgrade my Behringer mixer.
I am considering the Stanton SMX-401 the Vestax VMC-004 and the Denon DNX-400.
Which one you think is a better buy?

Never used the Vestax, but the Stanton SMX-401 is a great mixer, they really have a good quality product.

Try to go to a guitar center, and see if they have one on display, same with the vestax

+1

instead of having other ppl pick for you see if you can find some user reviews on store sites... you can often get alittle more help there as far as opinions from ppl who have used the product
also check your local dealers to see if they have one on display, guitar center is always willing to let customers try out an instrument

me personally, ive read alot of priase on the quality of vestax's mixers

but ive also looked at that stanton some(saw it at GC and decided to do some research) and personally id go with the stanton since it has a few more features like kill switches which i know id use

anything is an upgrade from a behringer:stongue:

just curious.. you didnt by chance get the 700 did you?

Yes, I actually did get the DJM700. What about it? Good or bad?

DJM? or DJX?;)

you my friend have apparently fallen for Behringers shiesty marketing schemes

that model is an obvious pioneer knockoff whith all the looks and none of the quality...

which is you..

are you upgrading because

A. something on your mixer died - say effects/channels/ BPM counter:stongue:
B.you realised it doesnt sound too great
C.it broke all together

i have a friend who has a 626 and i remember showing up at his house with my cute litte 2ch "scratch mixer":haha: and he thought he was the cus his mixer was bigger, had bpm counters, an extra channel, and 3band Eq

turns out my mixer has better sound and is pretty solid whereas one of his channels died midmix along with one of the counters(which never changed from 160) and his remaining 2channels were bleeding into eachother

...simply put, behringer isnt exactly top notch when it comes to dj mixers... studio wise they can hang but thats a whole diff market

My friend, this is no news to me , I know it is a Pioneer knockoff but it was just fine for me to learn on. It served its purpose just fine. It was just time to upgrade.

Because as you correctly said, the quality was just not there, and the sound was not up to what I needed.

Well, I just came back from Guitar Center with a new Denon DNX-400.
I got it for $399.

I saw the other two, but I just could not resist the Denon. Solid construction, good looks, digital outputs, split headphone monitoring (I use that a lot), balanced XLR and 1/4 outputs, track marks for digital recording...
I just felt it was a good machine.

I just fired it up and sure enough the sound is head and shoulders above the Behringer DJX700 it replaced.
I have a audiophile sound system which would reveal the shortcomings of any source connected to it. I only hooked up the Behringer once to it and the sound was very shallow. Never used it with it again.
I just hooked up the Denon to it and sure enough it deserves the company. Nice deep sound, tight bass, good stuff.

Thanks to all of you guys for your input. Much appreciated.
