Surprised the defending champs beat a team with a limp Shaq and only 1 other superstar player?

Detroit boasts 3-4 all-stars plus a great bench of guys who could start on any other team.

Miami has Shaq, Wade, and a streaky Damon Jones.

How do you figure?

Also Kobe came straight out of HS, Wade didn't. That's like saying Wade is better than McGrady, who's won a scoring title. You can't compare players based on their past learning curve. Kobe today is much better than Wade.

Does Wade have the potential to be better than Kobe? Sure. Is he? No

Wade hasn't accomplished anything yet. He's a phenominal player, but until he has some hardware, he can't boast anything.

Wade pretty much made a bad heat team mediocre (Heat won 25 games in 2003, then 42 wins in 2004...and this was after an 0-8 start), plus he took the heat to the 2nd round of the playoffs, before losing to Indiana to 6. All of this his rookie year without shaq

Kobe may the better individual player, but Wade is a much better team player and more of a playmaker than Kobe.

Making a bad team mediocre wasn't what Wade did that year by any means. Eddie Jones shot the lights out, and Lamar Odom was a force, as well as Caron Butler and Wade. Oh, and the emergence of Raefer Alston. It was a team effort.

Also making it that far in the playoffs hardly equates to this idiotic conclusion.

He's a PG by nature, so of course he's a more of a sharing player. that doesn't equate BETTER.

oh boy ... here comes a kobe vs wade debate .. ..

haha .. yes kobe should thank shaq for the 3 rings .. but wade should be thanking shaq also for making it to the eastern finals this year .. (then again, john salley should be thanking isaiah thomas, joe dumars, and michael jordan; steve kerr should be thanking michael jordan and tim duncan; and the list goes on and on .. but these guys listed don't compare to kobe and flash) ...

but in my honest opinion, comparison of age (wade is 23, and kobe was at 23), bryant has progressed better in the nba .. kobe knows how to get to the line more than wade .. i don't know .. seems wade puts up more jump shots than bryant .. they are almost practically the same, but kobe is a couple of inches better ... if kobe could have spent two years at college, then things would be different right now .. kobe wouldn't be with the lakers .. it would be a messy scenario to figure out .. but still we would be talking about kobe in a different way ..

but the guys who we should be really talking about is amare stoudemire and lebron james .. james was a monster during the regular season, and amare is an offensive stud in the playoffs (i won't mention his defense, because frankly, there is nothing to talk about .. hahhaha ) .. they're both accomplishing big feats before they hit 21 .. now if they can only work on their defense, that would be good ...

that's why many people talk about manu ginobli's and parker's skills more than james and stoudemire right now ... ginobli and parker are making a difference with their team on both sides of the court

but Kobe didnt even make it to the playoffs with Caron and Lamar, yes he plays in a tougher confrence, but if he's so great, he coudve at least gotten an 8th seed.

anyways I dont want to get to much into that....both are great players

as some of you know I will be in the arena for tonights game and I cant wait.A must win game, Im pumped :eyespop:

anyways...how about jordan? he wasn't a point guard by trade, yet he made plays ;)

I'll just end it at that...out of consideration of others :)

Lamar was injured much of the year. Aside from Butler and Odom, the Lakers had no PG, no centre, and no coach. Comparing a team in decline with a team on the rise with a young nucleus, in different confrences and years, makes no point whatsoever.

BTW, I have a large distaste for Bryant, and like Wade much more, and think he has potential.

But he has not accomplished a thing. Has he made great strides as a player? Yes.

Has he done more than Kobe?

No.
