actually i make a point in not trying to be a shooter... unless i know for sure i never promise a thing. Usually the response is "i will see what i can do".
In fact come to think of it, if i was acting like a shooter then this thread wouldnt even exist. LOL |

Then you have a right to be upset and ask your friends (?) why they automatically expect you to hook them up with something free. It's a business, and they should understand that like any business, profits come first. Tell them to get their head around this simple fact. Just cause you work for IBM doesn't mean you get to hand your friends a new computer every christmas...same thing. Sometimes you'll get a few perks which is what a comp is...if that happens, they should count themselves lucky to be in your good books and recieve something unexpected, like a free comp.
People expect too much...and then get grumpy when they don't get it.

My rule in life is to be generous when possible but to be very tight when that generousity becomes an expectation. |

Clubs are there to make money--------- the end. Any spaces that an employee gets for his friends are a privilege a club grants and DOES NOT HAVE TO.
So please instead of being pissed off when i cant help out, be grateful when i can.

i totally agree with you...if there is a chance i can help someone out i do what i can, but when a list is full, or meant for media promotion winners, or something else not relating to personal friends, people need to realize that it cant be done, im sorry |

You gotta. Anything that saves you time or money deserves a simple gesture of appreciatation on your part. I always make it a point to thank the people who help me out. Nothing should be taken for granted. Ever.

every person i have put on a guest list HAS shown their appreciation, and i respect that GREATLY...THOSE are the people that deserve guest list spots imo...
i have even had a couple people buy me a beer to show their appreciation! |
