XM vs Sirius

I wanted to get your thoughts on XM vs Sirius. Sirius seems to have more EDM related channels but XM seems to have more of the well known shows.
Anyone have an opinion? (and I know you do :) ) |

| I'm thinking about XM. From what I've heard, Sirius does have a few more dance channels but that is just a case of quantity over quality. I've heard Sirius' dance programming is a little heavy on the cheese. XM has some great shows including the Essential Mix. Sirius also seems to be signing a lot of celebrities (Howard Stern, Eminem, etc) but I have read some reviews that XM still has better playlists regardless of having any star DJs aside from Opie & Anthony. In terms of sports programming, XM has MLB, ACC, Pac-10 and Big Ten Football/Basketball while Sirius has NFL, NHL, and NBA. For me, XM seems to be the clear choice, but it all depends what you want. |

I hate XM v. Sirius threads/discussions because whatever someone has, they are going to defend it to the death. I LOVE satellite radio and think everyone should have one.
I have XM. Why did I chose it? For one, the EDM channels are better. Sirius has one or 2 more, but they are pure cheese. I like XMs EDM channels. But no matter which you get, there are going to be times that the EDM channels dont have soemthing you want to hear.
If you are getting it for EDM only, its not worth the price.
For me, I listen to a lot of the channels on XM.
My favorites:
80, 81, 82, of course....
44 - 80s alternative
54 - 80s - current alternative
29 - EuroPop
150 - Stand-up comedy (uncensored)
202 - O & A
Honorable Mentions:
the decades - 8=80s, 9=90s, 7=70s, etc....
low 20s - sort of mainstream stuff
65 - classic hip hop
MOST important Sports for me....
MLB - I will take MLB over NBA and NFL on the radio any day of the week. With MLB, you get to listen to a game meant for the radio, and from march through october i get baseball EVERY DAY. AND you get whatever home team's local broadcast.
Football on the radio? BLECH. the only time i would take advantage of this is ONLY on sundays. The sunday night game and the Monday night game is on the radio anyway, as well as my local games. Watch it on tv.
Basketball? please. keep it.
Stern on Sirius - LOL Poor bastards been jumping the shark for 10 years. If he's not funny now, he'll be even less funny later.
And supposedly Robyn wont be living in her cage anymore when they go to satellite.

Haven't heard Sirius but I can say I absolutly love XM. I just bought an '04 Acura 3.2 TL and it has XM and channels 80 thru 82 rock, especially The System channel 82. Plus on either channel 82 or BPM channel 81 they play Oslo nights with Likwit and Elusive which pwns. Plus I've heard sets from everyone from D:Fuse all the way to Menno de jong.

The only thing missing is ASOT and GDJB. Which hopefully will be joing XM soon.

Oslo Nights is on XM?! Even more of a reason to get XM then. Now I can't wait to get it. |

81 is a little on the commercial side, but its doable. |
