This track was a surprise. There aren't all that many layers to it, but it was still a task to keep the individual elements from getting muddy. The surprise wasn't in the difficulty with mixing, though. It was in the simplicity and how, despite it's simplicity, it feels very complex. That's something I've not really achieved before, and I feel somewhat accomplished now.

Coool, finally a new jex tune. Looking forward to hear what this sounds like. Seems like I fixed my prob with this forum so I hopefully can post my feedback in this thread ;)
okay, here we go.
I dislike the bubbling stuff in the beginning. I think its simply too much filter sweeping, lower the rate of the LFO or alter the sound a bit, that will benefit the sound. Later on it will get quite disturbing in my opinion.
Percussion is nice, the clap is a bit noisy, no prob for me.
I like the bass and the new LFOed layer coming in at 1:40. Everything seems to set the pace for a very hard goa track. Nice psychedelic lead, cool layering which you constantly build up nicely, you really kept my interest with this one.
There are very high sharp notes which hurt my ears a bit, you should use a limiter on them. Loving the melodies and the layering works very well for me too.
Cool track, really. In fact this very hard style of Goa reminds me a lot of the German Goa artist "The Lasertrancer", you can find some of his tracks for free download, just use google. I love that kind of style, sounds very cool, keep it up. |

Where do these notes show up? I'd like to be able to go back and fix them. |

| Especially in the end, have a look at 9:25 for example. |

Hey Jex,
I like this track, though I don't listen to much Goa. It's mean & dirty in the good way! You did a great with the snare fills. I like the reverby clap.. suits the tune.
When there's a lot going on, the song begins to sound kinda muffled, but I think a little more EQing could fix that. As well, in my headphones, it sounds like too many sounds are moving Left & Right, always panning, never static. That might be adding to the "muffledness"
the change at 4:20 is awesome!
Good toon - keep it up,

Funny, I included the possibility of those tones so that they would stick out more. It'll be hard to target them specifically, though, because they're made by the same synth that I use for the lead. ^^;

Yeh, I noticed that. I think I need to fix the EQ on my lead. As it is, it's really all over the place.

Heh. 4:20. Heh. Thanks, though. |

I think you need to clean up the start more. Give it some more direction to define its groove. The fx at the start just feel like they are there because theres room for them. The y just seem to constantly repeat. I think you could get rid of them or try something like a gate or compressor on them to give them more intention and make it sould less like a squelchy LFO.
A lot of interesting sounds, but the lead is in desperate need of tightening up. Its sounds awesome at times, but overpowers the track at other times. I think you could get more out of it by using something that is a bit more controlled and tighter. Try halving all the FX and LFO's and just tighten up the original waveform a bit.
The melody is a bit all over the place at times but that can add to a track like this. Not too sure if its working as theres is sooo much in the way of FX and stuff over the top of it. Maybe some variation would be good at some points?
Yeah, the second half of this song is pretty driving tech trance ihmo. 9.00 is just crazy.
Good stuff man, your on your way to defining an original sound with this one. |

The saw synth sounds to dominant, it feels like rank 1 goa now.
The phased hihats sound just to raw for my taste
that change is cool indeed at 4.20
the clap seems to be slowing down the tune in a way, blackhole effect :p
Saw synth needs indeed some tiny bit clearing up, and i also cant say i liked theme (melody).
I guess this is not my taste.
Great fx sounds though :) |
