How do you guys feel about DJs remixing classic songs?
I was just listening to Tiesto Live @ Dutch Dimension (04-01-02) for the first time and when the remix of Radioheads Fade Out ( from The Bends) came on I kind of winced a bit thinking " uh oh..Tiesto..am I going to be upset?" but as the track played on I realized it wasn't half bad..and then i thought..hey.. its actually really good. There was no distortion of the lyrics and it kept a slow kind of euphoric beat in the back and matched with Tom Yorks amazing voice i really liked it...it made me think about all the other classic songs that have been remixed that i have heard and i realized that the majority are done VERY well *cough cough* Smells like Teen Spirit remixed at Decadence by Armin *cough cough*
So what do you guys think of the remixed classics (any genre) and also can you give any suggestions of remixes you absolutley loved that you think everyone should hear??

Some are good, some suck.
That remix of the Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right" is awesome as hell. |

I'm with you there Cale. That is a killer track!
But it does really depend on what song is being remixed. |

Max Graham's Owner of A Lonley Heart by Yes is ok, but I wanna shoot myself when I hear Stevie Winwood's Valerie. There's good ones out there. The Hall and Oates track that's out now is ok. With you on the Beasties remix... JXL dropped that the week after I saw them at the ACC. Awesome!
I love that my mom knew the song from Flashdance when I played it for her (it's one of her favourite movies). My mom is 65! She rawks! :D |
