I think its pretty obvious...
he more than likely means:
exact same type of music yet at the same time it has to be up to the same standard. |

| try New Order - Republic (1993) a bit less mystic than ESCM, a bit less emotional, maybe with too much vocals, but similar music feel and atmospherics (considering its early electronic sound). |

Yes but to have it flow as effortlessly as it does will take some beating. |

artist albums are not supposed to flow. |

What kind of moron statement is that? A non-flowing artist album (I don't mean mixed) is just a collection of tracks. |

that's exactly what an artist album is supposed to be: a collection of tracks. that's why the tracks are separated by silence in 99% of them. there are some albums where the tracks aren't separated by silence (like this one or this one}, and are meant to flow together and be listened to from beginning to end without interruption, but that's not the norm.
the purpose of a mix is to flow. that's why the tracks are blended together, in an attempt (most of the time futile) to help the mix flow.. |

The whole (sadly often ignored) point of an album is to have a theme, a re-occurring element in it. Like a work of art. BT - ESCM is a clear example - all the tracks are very different, but still there is a distinct atmosphere to the whole CD.
I'm not saying non-flowing CDs can't be great, but they are more like singles collections if you ask me. |

Wise up. Are you deliberately trying to be awkward? I know exactly what DJ Cinos is talking about. |
