So, my buddy once recommended Sigur Ros to ease my withdrawal from lack of new Pink Floyd albums. I only heard a single and didn't really find it that close to Pink floyd. More like ambient music. does anyone have more info about them (outside of official website context), is it worth the dough to buy the album, and are there any trance remixes of Sigur Ros works?
what kind of music is it, really? coz' I dont think the single gave me an idea |

the are a post-rock group.
they made up their own language (well... it may not be a structured language but they still made it up) which they sing in. They are a really great band. IMO well worth the money. I don't think I'd compare them to pink floyd, but they're definetely not a typical band. |

It's celestial.
It makes you feel the highest of all highs and lowest of all lows. I'm really only able to cope with it in small doses. Too many memories.
My fave is off of Sigur 1/Sigur 9 CD/DVD. The song is Sigur 9 B untitled.
Start anywhere. It's all diamonds.
Sigur Ros Remix ?! I'm speechless, that would be pure blasphemy...
It's a group from Iceland. Just that in itself should tell you to grab all cd's in reach and clasp them very dear:) |

Sigur Rós is considered Post-Rock I guess, but RealOne player put it under the genre "Shoegazer" ;)
They have a few albums out though, do you know which one you heard the single from? The second half of () has more rock to it than Ágćtis Byrjun, but I can't speak for Von because I haven't heard all of that cd yet.
I don't think there's any trance mixes of their songs, but you should get Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink (Icelandic Version) it sounds simillar to Sigur Rós in my opinion.
I think there's also some free downloads of their videos and songs on their site in case you missed that, so you might wanna check those out in case you haven't already before you buy the album. |

Thanks for all the replies - mucho aregato!
I do have single from ( ) album - with a DVD video on it.
It is very moody... I definitely dig it but I'm wondering if the rest of the stuff is as good. Is it all like that - chill-down/out come down music or are there some "rock" moments, like Pink Floyd's "run like hell", know what I mean? |

| () definitely has its rock moments, although much of it is very dreamy. |

| Honestly, get (). It's excellent. Beautiful heart wrenching-melodies and the singer has a really distinctive voice. One of my favourite albums of all time! |
