Spent a bit on eBay getting myself a promo which I then found out is not going to be anything like the real relase.

Has anyone got any idea if this is ever going to be relased or if so when? Not his best work, but still worthy of my student loan!

Any updates on this??

Or even any updates on Chicane in general?

Even for a "hardcore 2 da bone" Chicane fan like me, i have no clue what's happening with him really. The reworked album has been "in progress" over 2 years now so i'm wondering whether it will ever see the light of day.. if it will, it'd better be worth all the wait then.

On his site there's been no updates since June.. and even that was just about a newly designed website coming up shortly.. which still hasn't come. :stongue:

I heard it's going to be released later this year, I think.

Anyway, unless it's completely reworked it'll be crap. And not worth looking forward to.

+1. It's crap and cheesy. Why Nick chose to steer Chicane into the mainstream direction, is beyond me. :/

Well, obviously money is one thing... He also had this to say about dance music a few years back:

"I've started to move away from dance and write songs and become more of an artist and I'm not comfortable being lumped in with trance. I've stopped wanting to play clubs and want to play gigs, get closer to the crowd and play deeper stuff. Being thought of as a dance artist or a DJ is demeaning."

Pop is certainly the way to go to play deeper stuff. Yay for Nick's supreme intellect.

I remember he produced aa couple songs on Chers album a few years back, and believe it or not they were really good.

Well...I have the Cher tracks and I wouldn't call them really good...more of precursors to the promo copy of Assemble that's been floating around.

I think the TA community is going to have to come to grips with the fact that Nick is no longer producing music for the dance floors. The best thing that he's put out in the last few years, by FAR IMO is "In Praise of the Sun" which was a bit of a chilled throwback but as far as actual dancey tunes he seems to be pretty far gone.

A pity too...Chicane was one of the first artists who I latched onto during my indoctrination into Trance and I consider his first two albums to be modern classics.

People just don't like when an artist dares to be different.

I think FFTMC and BTS were amazing.

I also think my ETA promo is great, and I'm looking forward to it.

GrimReaper
I don't mind artists daring to be different.. for example i like BT's Emotional Technology which differs alot from his previous albums but Chicane's Easy To Assemble just doesn't appeal to me that much in the form of the promo we got a few years back. Maybe i will think otherwise if some changes will be made to the album afterall - who knows.

*BUMP*

Looked on Amazon and there's a re-release of Behind The Sun in January. It says it's an import??? Is this going to be different from the CD/DVD already out??

And is there an update on ETA??
