OMG YES!!!!!! PM ME! I have been looking for other people that have went through that. Someone told me its sleep apnia but I dont beleive them. This happened to me in the old house I was talking about where I was the ghost. I happened to me 3 times and then I moved and it never happened again.

You cant move all you can do is think and try to use sheer will power to get yourself out of it. You are also fully awake and aware of what is happened but cant do anything about it. Sometimes it may feel like something is slowly sliding you off your bed, you try to scream and cant, one time I couldnt breath and when I finally go out of it I dropped out of the bed gasping for air and my mom came in to see what the hell was going on. Sometimes I would see things like a fuzzy tv screen, my vision was blurred badly. If it is in fact a spirit it can sense your energy and you can ward it off using your thoughts. Other people told me to pray in my mind but that didnt work either.

sleep apnea doesn't ever make it to the waking stage, it's a subliminal message to your brain to breathe when you stop breathing in your sleep - scary i know i have it!

the thing you describe above was told to me by another (folk tale or not) but something along the lines of a ghost hold. essentially you are fully awake unable to move or speak and upon coming out of this "ghost hold" you tend to take a deep breathe with a sigh of relief. yea it's scary...

i've also heard that its due to exhaustion. when your body is physically over tired and is resting, your mind wakes up but your body doesn't respond since it's recovering. I've had one of these experiences after road tripping the whole weekend starting on a thursday night. i was on a bus coming home from boston and i had been up for the whole weekend. needless to say i had my earbuds in while i was sleeping and the only way for me to get out of it was to take the ear buds out of my ears and even that was difficult but i managed to do it and thats when everything broke off and i was fully awake....

The thing about mine was I was laying in bed each time trying to fall asleep and I never succeeded, after it happened how can you go to sleep u are freaked out. So i guess I am not crazy and this does happen to other people. Is that the technical name for it? Ghost Hold? I need to do some research on that . Once of the times I actually saw something, with my eyes and they were open and I was awake but what I saw was as if it were located somewhere else and it was all in black and white and kind blurry. I was sober too everytime this happened so I cant even blame it on drugs. :disbelief

DUDE, were you laying on your back? I always seem to get it when I lay on my back. I've also got it so bad before that it felt like I was being poked by mental spears. Now everyone is gonna think I'm crazy here. ;) Most of the time its just a strong pressure on my chest though. But I try to always remain calm now but it's so hard to do so.

2 times I was laying on my back onces I was laying on my stomache, the time I was laying on my stomache my body felt like it was heating up but my upper back has this very cold chill and tinglyness.

The not being able to move phenomena, is a scientifically well-known thing. It's called sleep-paralysis, and is in fact taking place most of the night during REM-sleep (when you dream). I did a wiki for you guys:
