Infact, when I read what you have to say it reminds me of the following bash.org quote.

| acatually the reason is this....they don't build the ATM components differnetly for drive throughs/walk ups. its the same essential machine (pin-pad, computer, etc...). the only thing that changes is the cabinet they put it in. its much more cost effective for the company building the ATMs to build only one type vs building ones made for drive throughs and one made for walk ups |

I think what our friend here is trying to get across is that many blind people are more adept than the average person at memorizing a specific sequence of actions to produce a desired result without the use of visual prompts or reference points. This should come as no surprise - it isn't that they're smarter, or faster learners in general - it's that they have a lifetime of practice doing exactly that whereas people who can see just go ahead and use prompts and reference points because it's more effective and efficient and, therefore, never really develop this particular talent to the same level that a blind person would. |
