CME Pro: Say it ain't so!

I'm told that it's strange to receive money when one graduates from high school. If that's the case, then I'm in a very strange position, because I received a great deal of money. Or at least it's a great deal of money for someone like me. ;)

I decided to put the money to good use and get myself a midi keyboard controller. After a bit of searching, I came across this little number. I was amazed. For an amateur like me, with not much to go on, this was too good to be true. Of course, I've been raised to think that when something is too good to be true, it's probably not true.

So I did some sniffing, but not many people had much to say about it (probably because it's so new). There was a review in Keyboard Magazine that pointed out some minor cons to the controller, but on the whole, these negative points didn't really matter to me, because I'm only looking something that will serve it's purpose.

So I finally decide to come here. I'm desperate. I need someone to tell me that the CME UF is fake, that it's made with stolen parts, that if I use it, I'll age at an incredible rate, that it's actually a hidden nuclear weapon created by the Chinese to take over America, whatever. Tell me anything. Just make me believe that this is, in fact, not for real.

Or tell me that I'm overreacting, and I should just buy the damn thing. Either works for me.

That's way too cheap for a weighted controller. Way WAAAAY too cheap:nervous:

i remember looking into this a month or so back, it looks like a sweet deal. i personally woudln't mind trying this out!

I don't see what's "too good to be true" about it. For about 3x the price of a normal MIDI keyboard (i.e. PCRs or Xboards), you're also getting weighted keys, but less features than you'd get on, say, a Novation X-Station.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like a solid product, but don't be swayed by their pitches of a "virtual firewire synthesizer" or how can you can combine it with "automatic accompaniment software", because you can do that with just about any board. This thing is not a synthesizer, or a mini grand piano, or a drum machine, and it will not make your coffee in the morning.

So yeah, you are overreacting, if you like it then just buy it.

Hey. I have seen them at a local music store, in Canada.. Not bad for a controller. It looked solid.. the feel of the keys was not bad at all. I seen the 61 key version.

i was talking to the distributor over in my local store just a couple of days back and he mentioned that it was cheap because it's made in china....where production costs are cheaper which might relate to cheaper pricing of the controller....
