every confidence in the world it'll be sardines. that it will be hot and sweaty. that i will have to unwillingly whiff the body odour of each person that strides by (or barrages through the crowd i should say). that i'll be probably have to whiff the aromatic scent of vomit upon entering the toilet at one point of the night. that i'll probably encounter the scent earlier on some chump's breath, as he not only invades my personal space getting by, but will either [1] burn me with his lit cigarrette [2] strategically spill his alcoholic beverage near my crotch [3] scream "heyyyyyyy brotherrrrrrrrrr", spraying saliva all over my face, which keep in mind, came from a mouth that puked, for all i know, only minutes before - if i'm unlucky, he'll do all three.
p.s. is it too early for a roll call? |
heyyyyyyy brotherrrrrrrr

I heard that was a very good set. I can never seem to get into a howells set, but I keep trying anyway. Do any of you know where I can grab that set to download? I heard there was some very nice tribal drums present in the music which I would enjoy to no end. |

Yeah it was. I was only lucky enough to catch it because I went to bed at 8.30 last night, woke up at 2am and then noticed a thread about it in the Music Discussion forum. Started off kinda downtempo (deep house / breaks), but really picked up when he started playing his trademark fresh-as, bouncy-as, funky-as, electroish, techy-housey stuff (yeah, that's a genre. Look it up :p). Was kinda winding back into atmospheric breaks (a la the day disc on his 24/7 album) when I went back to bed about five hours in, but it was defintely worth tuning into.

Have you ever seen him live? I've seen him twice and both those sets rank up there amongst the best I've ever witnessed. His last set at Room in September 2003 was, by some stretch, the best one I've ever witnessed. Say what you want about his "unique" choice of music sometimes, the guy knows how to rock a room.

I'm sure it'll come out in the next few days. I tried checking the Proton website to see if it's going to be repeated, but it doesn't look like it will be from what I could see... :-/ |

I've seen him twice as well. The strange thing is, he plays the new york deep house, toronto tribal, and montreal tech house that I love but I still can't seem to get into it. I find he gets too techhy, or too abstract for my taste, but everyone else here seems to love him. That and I don't like any of the beginnings of his sets, the 'warm up' house stuff he plays I always feel as though I could have picked better tunes to begin the night. It's really odd, I'm a big fan of people like tenaglia and lawler, but for some reason howells never agrees with me, no matter how hard I try.

I've been looking on my new favorite download site the mixing bowl and there's a request for the set, but as yet there hasn't been a copy found. |
