don't play for money, fool!!!
Keep practising until you are 1337, and then go and kick some ass when you play for "real money". |

Might indulge in some online Holdem myself...
Hey dude, if you don't wanna lose big, don't buy in big! That's how I regulate my losses lol. |
well i've done that. i play with friends and other people that like poker all the time...i mean seirously, like three nights a week easy hehe and i always finish in the money...
then friday i went up to our local casinos and i walked out of there with a ton of money....so that's what got me thinking that i was actually good enough. so i made some calls, found out where the game was at...and got stuck in da bum...that was about it hahaha... |

I said the exact same thing...many a times...
Luckily I only play 2/4 or casual games with my friends, otherwise I would be poor in a hurry.
I have no luck when it comes to playing poker :(
Overall, I think I am still up at playing Holdem, but overall, I remember ever bad beat and rarely remember any of the good times. |

Two things...
1. The house always wins (or if you're playing against other people, odds are you're gonna lose)
2. "The better the gambler, the worse the man." A quote from somewhere.
It's all fun and games until you lose your shirt.
My sister lost hundreds of dollars playing those stupid "nevada tickets" (those break open things).
A guy I work with lost $8 grand in one night.
If you have that kind of money to play with, why not go shopping? |

| I don't even know how to play poker. I'd rather throw my money out the window. |

I've been playing hold'em online for just over a year now, read some guides, a couple of articles and been around the twoplustwo-forums. I also know a lot of people who play BIG (Fixed Limit) - one which is one of the best FL players on the Empire/PP-network, so I've gotten some pointers. All in all I'm up about $7000 (including rakeback).
Poker is fun and a nice way to earn some extra cash if you know what you're doing. I'm playing $2/4, $3/6 full FL at the moment, building a BR to go to $5/10 short. Most of my friends are way past me, playing $10/20 and $15/30, they usually average like +$1k a day, playing about 2-4 hours on 4 tables or more simultaneous. I envy them  |

not really...when you know what you're doing in poker, the odds are definitely in your favor. |
